MIAA Regular Season 2023-2024

We had scouts around Massachusetts watching as much MIAA hockey as we could. Players are listed under there respected team in descending letter grade order.

Beverly/Danvers/Ipswich 

Olivia Baldassare #18 (Beverly/Danvers/Ipswich Panthers, F, 2028) : Baldassare is a hard working forward who is always around the ice forechecking hard and with intention. She also likes to battle and win possession for her team. Grade: B-

Clara Cary #20 (Beverly/Danvers/Ipswich Panthers, F, 2027) : Cary at times looked a bit unengaged at times but when she was on, we liked what we saw. She skates well and well with the puck to get up and down the ice with speed. She can also get to scoring areas and bury it home. Grade: B-

Grace Corbett #24 (Beverly/Danvers/Ipswich Panthers, F, 2028) : Corbett is very young but definitely fits into varsity hockey. She never stops and is always working looking to make a difference. Grade: C+ 

Shrewsbury 

Marisa Montoya #1 (Shrewsbury High School, G, 2024) : Montoya seemed to have had a strong senior season. In her crease she tracks the puck well and moves pretty well side to side to cover as much of the net as she can while staying focused. Grade: B+ 

Natalie MacCausland #5 (Shrewsbury High School, F, 2024) : MacCausland is a taller forward who has a nice shot and gets to the right areas. She moves quickly around the ice and we like the way she keeps her feet moving making defense get drawn out of position. Grade: B+

Mia Ryder #7 (Shrewsbury High School, F, 2025) : Ryder is a big hustler who is always working when she is on the ice. Her body position in scrums and battles along the boards was good to shield the puck and make it hard for her to lose battles. She also forechecks hard and puts her stamp on the game. Grade: B 

Lauren Albertson #12 (Shrewsbury High School, F, 2026) : Albertson has good hands and good edges that get her around the ice real well. She takes the puck up ice smoothly and her pick ups off the boards keep momentum for her team. Grade: B 

Bridget McLaughlin #14 (Shrewsbury High School, D, 2024) : McLaughlin plays a physical game and is great along the boards battling for pucks. She also moves the puck well and keeps her team involved. Grade: B- 

Burlington HS

Chloe Rabazzi #7 (Burlington High School, D, 2029) : Rabazzi is a 7th grader who carried the pace of the game. Her puck skills are strong and her passing is hard and on tape to her teammates. Her skating is so smooth and always moving for the amount of minutes she plays. She is also calm and poised with the puck and battles hard for someone so young. Grade: A- 

Caitlyn Tremblay #2 (Burlington High School, F, 2025) : Tremblay skates well and handles the puck well which helps her make moves with the puck all over the ice. She has her head up looking for open ice and has the poise to make smart decisions with the puck. Grade: B+ 

Anna Viglione #6 (Burlington High School, F, 2024) : Viglione is a good skater who gets to her spots and releases her great shot on net. We saw her bury a nice goal against Belmont. She also puts in the work along the boards and backchecks hard to pick up sticks. Grade: B 

Shea McDonald #14 (Burlington High School, F, 2024) : McDonald is a taller forward who skates well for her size and handles the puck well. She battles hard along the boards and uses her height and length to really dig into board battles and come up with the puck. Grade: B 

Shayla Kocur #22 (Burlington High School, F, 2027) : Kocur is a smaller freshman forward who competes almost harder than anyone else. Her high efforts help her make an impact on the ice and assist her in strong forechecks to put pressure on the opposing defense. Grade: B 

Belmont/Watertown HS

Molly Driscoll #12 (Belmont/Watertown HS, F, 2024) : Driscoll has good skill and hands that match real well with the pace she plays at. She is one of the faster players in the MIAA with the puck. Her hands make players miss and help create space for herself. Her quickness also aids her one on one with top defenders to find open ice. Grade: A

Aislin Devaney #13 (Belmont/Watertown HS, D, 2024) : Devaney is a hard working defender who also captained the team. Her shots get on net and make rebounds for her forwards. She is also a good skater and gets around to her spots well. Grade: B+ 

Elsie Lakin-Schultz #23 (Belmont/Watertown HS, F/D, 2027) : Lakin-Schultz is a taller player who we saw play forward against Burlington. For being taller she skates well and can really up the pace of the game when she has the puck. She also rushes up the ice and competes hard in every zone. Grade: B

Martha Dimas #27 (Belmont/Watertown HS, D, 2027) : Dimas is a taller defender who uses her reach to help in the defensive zone to intercept passes from the opposing team. She is strong on her stick and gives hard accurate passes up ice to her teammates. She also competes and brings it each shift. Grade: B

Archbishop Williams   

Caroline Batchelder #8 (Archbishop Williams Bishops, F, 2025) : Batchelder is a shooter who gets shots on net to create rebounds and scoring chances for herself and the team. She also battles hard and makes life hard along the boards for the other team. Grade: B

Emily Fleming #22 (Archbishop Williams Bishops, F, 2027) Fleming is a smaller forward but very speedy. This freshman also competes hard against older players and really digs for loose pucks and wins possession of the puck. Grade: B 

Izzy O’brien #13 (Archbishop Williams Bishops, F, 2028) : O’brien is an 8th grader competing at a good level on varsity. She is a good skater with good hands that allow her to toe drag into shots and create a new shot lane for herself. Grade: B

Julie Murphy #3 (Archbishop Williams Bishops, F, 2028) : Murphy is a taller forward who has good puck handling skills. She can take the puck up ice and transition her team to the attacking zone for goal opportunities. She is also strong and competes for the puck. Grade: B

Aliya Greenwood #6 (Archbishop Williams Bishops, D, 2026) : Greenwood is a good skater who can circle and escape from pressure. Her foot work allows her to be quick and get to open areas on the ice. She also has a good low shot on net that creates scoring chances and rebounds for her team. Grade: B

Andover HS 

Lucy MacLean #10 (Archbishop Williams Bishops, D, 2026) : MacLean has good hands that allow her to handle the puck well through the neutral zone for strong zone entries. She has good skating that gets her to the right areas of the ice. Her playmaking is strong and really likes to utilize her teammates while not forcing it. Grade: B 

Bella DiFiore #15 (Andover High School, F, 2025) : DiFiore plays at a good pace of play. She skates well and seems to want to set the intensity of the game by moving her feet so much. She likes to move the puck and has good teammate utilization. Grade: B

Grace Johnson #14 (Andover High School, D, 2025) : A defenseman who is very strong on the breakout. Her head is always up and looks to make tape to tape passes to her forwards to get the play up ice. Grade: B- 

Scarlet Glass #16 (Andover High School, F, 2025) : Glass is a hard worker who forechecks and is extremely engaged with the play and what’s going on. Her skating is an asset for her because she can beat anyone to pucks and skate with the best. Grade: C+

Winchester HS

Amelia Corvi #8 (Winchester Sachems, D, 2025) : Corvi skates well and moves well with the puck which helps her playmaking. When she is constantly moving she opens up passing lanes and not knowing draws defenders away from her teammates which is a great skill. She is also engaged with the play and focused on the ice. Grade: B

Julia Legare #18 (Winchester Sachems, F/D, 2025) : Legare is a good passer who controls the puck well around the ice. She is comfortable one on one and uses her body and footwork to protect the puck away from the opposition. Grade: B 

Marian Hiller #1 (Winchester Sachems, G, 2024) : Hiller is a taller goalie who covers a great portion of the net. She puts herself above her peers with the way she moves side to side to always stay square to the shooter. Grade: B-

Shawsheen/Bedford 

Kayah Maloney #24 (Shawsheen Bedford Rams, D, 2028) : Maloney is a taller defenseman who is best on the defensive side of the puck. She is strong along the boards and establishes a good netfront presence. She prioritizes protecting the net and is very responsible with the puck in her own end. Offensively she does put on good low shots on net and helps create chances. Grade: B-

Becca Sobol #3 (Shawsheen Bedford Rams, F, 2027) : Sobol skates with the puck well. She takes ice and can put herself in good positions to score. Grade: B-

PLNR 

Catie Kampersal #3 (Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading, F, 2024) : Kampersal is a high effort player who always keeps her feet moving and always making herself a passing option. She likes to rush the puck up ice and create offense for herself and her team. She is also engaged in the game and puts up a lot of points. Grade: B+

Ava Buckley #23 (Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading, F, 2025) : Buckley is a good playmaker who handles the puck well and wants to get her teammates involved and set them up for goals. She is also a good skater and gets around the ice well to be an x factor on the ice. Grade: B 

Mia Lava #21 (Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading, F, 2025) : Lava can really wheel around the ice. She is quick and utilizes her feet by always moving and making herself a factor on each and every shift. She also handles the puck well and gets up ice in a hurry. Grade: B

Shirley Whitmore #12 (Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading, F, 2025) : Whitmore handles the puck well and skates well up and down the ice. She also puts good shots on net and creates rebounds for her linemates. Grade: B-

Malden Catholic

Ava Baker #18 (Malden Catholic, D, 2024) : Baker has great hands and skating which helps her really drive the game and lets her control her teams pace of play. Her rushes are smart and with a purpose of getting her team on the attack and assist in creating offense. She is poised with the puck on the point and moves well to create shot lanes on the net. Defensively she is strong one on one and rarely lets anyone get behind her. Grade: A- 

Abbie Poole #8 (Malden Catholic, F, 2026) : Poole is a smooth skater who handles the puck real well up the ice to get her team on the attack. She also makes good smart passes to her linemates and utilizes her teammates well to get them all involved. Grade: A-

Mia Moretti #13 (Malden Catholic, D, 2024) : Moretti keeps pucks in and up possession time for the lancers. She is also a good play maker and moves the puck well with no flash which is perfect. Grade: B

Mikaya Holland #7 (Malden Catholic, F, 2025) : Holland is a balanced skater who is good on her feet. She plays with a high motor and wants to make a difference on the ice every shift. Grade: B 

Gianna Holland #19 (Malden Catholic, D, 2025) : Holland is a great option to lead the breakout. She has good feet with her head up looking for the best option up ice. She is also strong defensively to take away time and space from anyone who challenges her side of the ice. Grade: B 

Alyssa Jankowski #4 (Malden Catholic, F, 2025) : Jankowski is a hard worker. Her effort is noticeable on each shift, though her skating needs work, her length and strength along the boards makes her a big factor to every game we saw her play. Grade: B- 

Bishop Fenwick 

Ella Tucker #40 (Bishop Fenwick, G, 2025) Tucker is prepared and saw a lot of shots in the game we watched her. The scoreboard told a different story but continued to be engaged and focused on her game. She handles adversity well. Grade: B- 

St. Mary’s of Lynn 

Isabella Freitas-Almeida #18 (Cushing Academy, F, 2027) : Freitas was one of the most exciting plays in the MIAA. Her skating and puck possession put her above the competition. Her hands allow her to maneuver through the opposition and her skating then gets her to blow past anybody on the ice. She is a natural goal scorer and we are excited to see her game translate to the NEPSAC next year at Cushing. Grade: A+

Alyssa Norden #24 (St. Mary’s Academy, F, 2027) : Norden possesses the puck well and has good poise with the puck. She is a balanced skater who is strong on her edges. Along the boards she is strong and battles for puck possession. She can score but is an even better playmaker with good tape to tape passes. Grade: A- 

Vanessa Hall #11 (St. Mary’s Academy, D, 2028) : Hall is a top defender in the MIAA. She plays so many minutes and barely skips a beat even when playing over half the game. She pinches effectively to keep her team on the attack and it shows her IQ to take her chances when it is best suited. She handles the puck well and has poise to make the right play instead of the first one she sees. She also skates well and when she starts to walk the line more, she will double her points scored. Grade: A- 

Gianna Tringale #1 (St. Mary’s Academy, G, 2024) : Tringale is a MIAA State champion and we are not surprised. She did not see many shots during the regular season but when the playoffs came she was up for the challenge. Goalies need to stay very focused when that occurs and she was more than up for the challenge. She moves well and stays engaged at all times. Grade: A-

Regan Sullivan #8 (St. Mary’s of Lynn, D, 2024) : Sullivan is a smart defender who plays with no flash. She has her head up and makes smart plays to her forwards. She is strong on the breakout with crisp tape to tape passes to progress her team onto the attack. Grade: B+ 

Kasey Litwin #17 (St. Mary’s of Lynn, F, 2025) : Litwin is a defender who skates well and looks to make forecheckers miss with good head fakes to open up the ice for herself. She also makes good puck moves and helps her team advance up ice. Grade: B
