September/October College Commitments

The months of September and October were incredibly busy for NCAA and some USports schools in signing commitments of a new highly talented crop of players. To the best of our knowledge, 51 players in those two months have acknowledged their commitment to play hockey at the next level. We are seeing here a variety of players from all across North America who will be joining the colligate ranks in 2024, 2025, and 2026. These players are the next generation of women hockey players who we have seen continue to grow the game, produce at high levels, and continue to impress Neutral Zone scouts more and more each season. And we can not wait to see what they do this season and beyond for the game. Congratulations to all the players on this list on your commitments.

Molly BoyleD (★★★★1/4) – Commits to Yale University ‘25

The Phillips-Andover/East Coast Wizards product has been a standout defender for several years. Boyle is always always at the top of Neutral Zone scouting reports whether it’s in the prep, amatuer, or national settings. Boyle always stands out and will look to contribute right away in a Bulldogs uniform. Look for her to raise her 4.25 star rating even higher this season and next, before she heads off to Yale.

NZ Scouts say: “Boyle is a smooth skating defender with excellent puck movement. She always plays a heads-up game with an excellent pace. She has good size to pair with her strong skating abilities…She almost slows the pace of the game with her control, but can up the pace as well and make defenders look out of place.”

Nora Hannan – G (★★★★1/4) – Commits to University of St. Thomas ‘25

Hannan will look to continue to up her game this season, as her Edina High coach looks to be giving her the nods as the team’s starter this season. She has put up incredible stats each season prior, but playing in a supporting role. This season and next the spot light will be on Hannan and no doubt the 4.25 star will shine and solidify Tommies Head Coach, Johnson’s choice in signing her.

NZ Scouts say: “Hannan is a solid goalie with strong positioning She stays square and alert, and does not allow rebound to pop out for net front opponents. She has a quick glove and a compact, ready stance. Made tons of solid technical saves but also showed that she is quick and successful in desperation.”

Grace Morin – F (★★★★) – Commits to Brown University ‘25

Morin is yet another East Coast Wizards product who’s had USA camp invites. The tall Loomis forward has his season and next to prepare for college hockey. She undoubtedly will bring a solid hard working game to Brown University in 2025.

NZ Scouts say: “The New Jersey native plays the same way every game, no matter the opponent, as we saw in yet another viewing of her versus Kent. She’s up and down the ice with ease, strong on pucks, and in excellent position. The young ‘25 grad still has a few more seasons before graduation and we project the ceiling to continue to be raised by her.”

Makenna Lloyd-Howe – F (★★★★) – Commits to University of Vermont ‘25

UVM has added a hard working playmaker to their list of 2025 commits in Lloyd-Howe. The Canadian product of RINK Hockey Academy currently has 11 assists in 12 games this season and will continue to rack up points. The 4 star has a lot to offer and will bring another added dimension to the Catamounts.

NZ Scouts say: “Lloyd-Howe was small and shifty with good hands to get around defenders and into high-danger areas for chances. She competed hard, winning battles on the wall and coming out with possession.”

Kaileigh Quigg – F (★★★★) – Commits to Boston University ‘24

We had orginally reported that Quigg would be heading  to Cornell for the 2024 season. But plans change for numerous reasons and it looks like the 4 star forward will be taking her talents to the former powerhouse Boston University Terriers. Quigg is a Durham Jr. Lightning product and U18 Team Canada member who will look to make an immediate impact and help the Terriers get back to the dance for the first time since 2015.

NZ Scouts say: “Quigg uses her size and speed to apply solid pressure on the backcheck. She drives the net hard to quickly release rocket shots on net to challenge the goalie and puts passes on the tape with a nice sauce or a crisp, flat pass. Quigg uses strength and aggression on the forecheck and in battles. Her speed generated by a long smooth skating stride quickly takes away space for offenders in the neutral zone and propels her past opponents in puck races.”

Paige Cline – F (★★★3/4) – Commits to Lindenwood University ‘24

Cline has come within inches of cracking the century mark in her last three seasons in the Little Ceasars program at the U14 and U16 levels. That scoring touch can easily be the reason why Lindenwood will bring her to Missouri to done the black and gold.

NZ Scouts say: “Cline is pure hustle on every shift. She digs, grinds, and uses her height and strength to her advantage and wins battles in all three zones. She showcased some very nice vision in the offensive zone to find teammates and make plays happen at the net.”

Ainsley Tuffy – G (★★★3/4) – Commits to Harvard University ‘24

Tuffy has put up an under 2.00 GAA in each of her last two seasons with the Shattuck’s U16 team. The USA camp invitee will look to continue that tread as she backstops the prep squad this season before joins The Crimson next season.

NZ Scouts say: “She has a great spread down low, covering post to post. She is standing tall to some very fancy moves across the front of the net. She stays tight to the backs of screens to duck around to get sight lines. She reacts fast and pushes hard to get any rebounds. Tuffy has a mature, reliable presence.”

Isabella Gratzl – D (★★★3/4) – Commits to Brown University ‘24

Gratzl comes from the always strong program of the Chicago Mission and has been a USA camp invite for the past three years. The very solid defender will hang up the neon green and black and trade it in for Seal brown, cardinal red, and white at the end of this season. Where she will look to help the Brown Bears get back to the dance for the first time since 2002.

NZ Scouts say: “Gratzl is very aware and a heads-up hockey player. She pinches at the right time and holds the blue line. She makes elite tape-to-tape passes. She is smart and reads and reacts well. A reliable player, she defends well and gets her body into the play. Gratzl can be a stay-at-home defender who can also take advantage of mistakes and take the puck to the net herself”

Lucy Thiessen – D (★★★1/2) – Commits to Dartmouth College ‘24

We had orginally reported that Thiessen  committed to Harvard for the 2023 season. But we have since been informed that the lefthanded defender from the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers program will now head to Darmouth for the 2024 season. Collegiate teams are littered with players from Minnestoa, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Canada. But it’s not often we get to see see player of Thiessen’s caliber who hails from the state of Virginia. Despite where she is from Thiessen will be playing NCAA hockey for the Big Green next season.

NZ Scouts say: “Thiessen has the ability to create breakouts all on her own as she winds up and creates offense on the rush with speed. She showcased good quick crossover speed with cuts to the middle for shots. Thiessen makes quick up transitions passes and sets her team on the attack quickly…showed great patience to let plays develop and make the outlet cross-ice. She plays fearlessly, challenging defenders 1v3 and winning down the middle of the ice.”

Violet Carroll – F (★★★1/2) – Commits to The College of the Holy Cross ‘24

Carroll is yet another USA camp multiple time invite who has committed to a Division 1 program for the 2024 season. The Williston-Northhampton product will not have to go far next season. At the conclusion of this season Carroll will make the 59 mile track cross state to donne the Holy Cross Purple and look to help the Crusaders to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

NZ Scouts say: “Carroll is a tenacious player with great skill and speed with the puck. She seems to be always F1 on the forecheck and ready to battle for the puck. When she gets the puck on her stick she can pick her head up and find the open player. Or she will use her slick hands to make plays on her own with quality shots towards the cage. She supports the puck very well and she is a great skater – so she can keep up with anybody on the ice.”

Maggie Kime – D (★★★1/2) – Commits to Merrimack College ‘24

Klime has been a USA camp invitee twice and is now in her second season with the U19 Little Ceasars squad. In the 2024 season the tall defender with high hockey IQ will head east to put on the blue and gold sweaters of Merrimack College. Where she looks to help the Warriors produce their second winning record in school history.

NZ Scouts say: “Good awareness and high hockey IQ make Kime a great defenseman. She communicates well on the ice and keeps her head on a swivel to keep things in check in the defensive zone. Her patience allows her to find extra time and space which leads to more opportunities to make plays. Her skating confidence allows her to keep a good gap between her and the puck carrier on the rush. In the defensive zone, she does well with puck deception and shows great ability to get out of trouble by using her skating ability and effective use of head-fakes to deceive forecheckers.”

Lily Pachl – D (★★★1/2) – Commits to Harvard University ‘25

Pachl consistently puts up strong stats as a defender in the Minnestoa High School league. She will take this season and next to continue to improve her game and raise her star rating, as we believe she will, before joining the Crimson in 2025.

NZ Scouts say: “Pachl is a heads-up player who reads the ice well to capitalize on options and feed others. She has good speed and control and used it in a few neutral zone rushes. In the offensive zone, she walks the line and drags to gain a better shooting angle. Lily effectively uses her body to protect the puck and win puck battles. Pachl does a good job getting pucks to the net with a variety of shots that are low for the forwards to tip for chances. Her slapshot is hard and flat and her snap shot and wrist shot are quick.”

Ava Hunter – F (★★★1/2) – Commits to Saint Anselm College ‘25

Hunter is a product of the Mid-Fairfield CT Stars and Williston-Northhampton. The left handed forward has also been a USA camp invite and will continue to hone her game this season and next before heading to New Hampshire to join the Hawks.

NZ Scouts say: “Hunter is a bit of a scrapper. She keeps her feet moving and makes good things happen. She can cause havoc when she pressures the opposition. She creates turnovers and takes advantage of mistakes. She can produce and gets after it in any situation.”

Maryn Broderick – D (★★★1/2) – Commits to Syracuse University ‘25

Broderick is an ‘07 playing U22 for the Waterloo Ravens. By our calculations Syracuse may have got a steal here. Neutral Zone will no doubt have more reports on Broderick’s solid defensive play over the next two season before she heads to New York and donne the Orange and Navy at the Tennity Pavillion.

NZ Scouts say: “Broderick is an all-around solid defender. In the offensive zone, she makes nice heads-up shots for sticks. She moves her feet well to create a shooting lane and puts pucks on the net. Defensively, she knows when to step out, and when to pinch and hold the blueline. She always had sticks in lanes and kept opponents to the outside.”

Abigale Kirk – F (★★★1/2) – Commits to University of New Hampshire ‘25

Kirk is also an ‘07 representing the Waterloo Ravens at the U22 level. New Hampshire will add a strong center into their mix in 2025. Kirk will also continue to grow here game as she prepares the next two seasons to join the Wildcats in hopes of helping them to another Froze Four appearance.

NZ Scouts say: “Kirk is a smart player making great passes in the offensive zone and hustling on the backcheck to deny chances. She is strong in the faceoff circle, winning draws cleanly and stepping in to steal pucks for net drives and quick hard shots on goal.”

Rae Mayer – F (★★★1/2) – Commits to University of Minnesota-Duluth ‘25

Mayer is the second player on this list to hail from the state of Virgina who will be playing NCAA hockey in 2025. The BK Selects product will look to help her team get to Nationals these next two seasons while she grows her game and prepares for college hockey. But when the 2025 season begins, Mayer will be heading northwest to join the Bulldogs in their winning ways as they look to continue their streak of NCAA appearances.

NZ Scouts say: “Mayer showcased an incredible first step. She’s an explosive skater who gets to top speed in a hurry – even with the puck on her stick. She has her head up and makes great snappy outlets and is definitely the reason for her team getting on the attack so quickly.”

Drew Dyczkowski – F (★★★1/2) – Commits to Long Island University ‘24

Dyczowski is nearly a point per game player last season with the Little Caesars’ program and will look to improve upon those stats throughout this season. But next season Dyczkowski will head to Long Island where she will not have to make to big of adjustment to her her color scheme, moving from the baby blue and orange of Little Caesars to the baby blue and gold of the LIU Sharks. She will be joining a program who made quick work of getting to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in only their second season of existence. Dyczkowski will help to keep that ball rolling.

NZ Scouts say: “Dyczkowski’s hockey I.Q. is her strength. She reads, follows, and supports the play well. She is often a trailer as an F3 or puck supporter along the board as an F2. She recognizes when and where to engage in support. Her strong skating stride, great use of wide base and edges when in full stride were impressive.”
