The World Junior A Challenge took place this year in Dawson Creek, BC with 5 teams: Canada East, Canada West , United States, Czech Republic and Russia. This has become one of the elite showcase events for prospects not playing in NCAA or CHL who are being scouted by NCAA/CHL and NHL scouts. The tournament winner this year was Russia who defeated Canada East in overtime 2-1.
