NCAA: St. Cloud State Adds Two Graduate Transfers

St. Cloud State didn’t pick up any new recruit commitments this week, but the Huskies did add two graduate transfers to the roster for next season.

First, the Huskies picked up a scoring forward in Colgate Jared Cockrell. Last season he was fourth on the Raiders in scoring with seven goals and 10 assists in 36 games. Cockrell was technically a senior this season but he was able to get back another year of eligibility after he was limited to just seven games last season as a junior.

The Huskies also added Seamus Donohue to the roster for next season. He’s another graduate transfer who will be coming from Michigan Tech. This season he had three goals and 14 assists in 39 games and in his college career, he has seven goals and 48 assists in 117 games.

’97 F Carson Gicewicz announces graduate transfer to UMass

Gicewicz will earn a fifth-year of eligibility after he suffered a knee injury this past October. Gicewicz had a solid college career for the Saints, scoring 21 goals and 33 assists in three seasons.

“These last 4 years have been unforgettable,” Gicewicz said in a statement on Twitter. “St Lawrence has taught me so much including the value of friendship, leadership, and family. There is no place like Canton and there’s especially no place like Appleton Arena on a Saturday night.

“To the St Lawrence Community – TEAMMATES, Coaches, Fans, Friends, and all those who I’ve met in Canton – THANK YOU. I can’t wait for my next chapter in Amherst!”

’99 F Alec Grace to St. Anselm for 2020

Grace is a California native who has spent a lot of time in New Hampshire, and now he’ll play his college hockey in the Granite State as well.

After three seasons at New Hampton, the 5-foot-10 forward moved to the Northern Cyclones in the NCDC. This season he played for the Cyclones USPHL team, where he had 13 goals and 21 assists in 31 games.

Grace was ranked No. 20 among ’99-born players in our “other” category, which included the GOJHL, USPHL, NA3HL, WSHL, SIJHL and KIJHL.

’99 F Andrew Keith to SUNY-Fredonia for 2020

Keith is a Maine native who played four seasons at North Yarmouth Academy from 2013-17 and then transitioned to the Boston Jr. Rangers in the EHL.

This season he had 21 goals and 18 assists in 46 games. In the last two seasons with the Jr. Rangers, Keith has 46 goals and 28 assists for 74 points in 93 games.

“Keith centered the first group on a talented Rangers team,” our scouts said at the EHL Showcase. “He showed speed and drove the net. He has good size and a quick, hard shot. We liked his ability to hit seams off the cycle and to thread passes through tight areas. He was very willing to go get pucks and fight for possession. He is not flashy but was consistent and we noted him in both games.”

’99 F Sam Harris to Aurora for 2020

Harris is a big addition for Spartans. He’s a Florida native who is a little undersized (5-foot-8) but our scouts had him ranked in the Top-’99s rankings for the NAHL (No. 136).

Harris had three goals and an assist in 23 games this season for Odessa and began the year scoring three goals in 15 games for the Maine Nordiques. He also has experience in the NOJHL, SJHL and MJHL. Prior to his junior career he played U18 and U16 for the Dallas Stars.
