Goaltender Christian Stoever announced that he has committed to Bowling Green. Stoever was originally committed to Merrimack and even spent part of last summer on Merrimack’s campus before returning to the USHL and choosing the Falcons over two other programs.
Stoever posted a .914 save percentage and a 3.43 GAA last season for Madison. Prior to last season he played for Des Moines, Youngstown and Cedar Rapids in the USHL. Before the USHL he played in the NAHL for Wilkes-Barre.
“Stoever is very athletic, has quick feet, he’s sharp and precise in his movements,” said NZ scouts. “The Michigan native is coming off a wild first year in the USHL and showed great poise with his strong cuts and pushes, stick work and flexibility laterally. Stoever has decent size but has very long legs and goes from a full split to his butterfly effortlessly when the play is moving behind the net. He’s strong technically and made several nice saves moving from left to right where he is so smooth and patient in his crease.”
Another goaltender, Ansel Holt, announced his commitment to Army West Point. Currently with the Maine Nordiques, he played for Honeybaked last season.
“Ansel is a big goalie who can move quickly side to side. He was noted for making a couple of breakaway saves to win a big game for his team. He has the size to see through traffic and does a great job of rebound control.”
