Norwell Blanks Cohasset/Hull 4-0

Kingston, MA – MassNZ was in the house this evening for a D4 showdown between #1 ranked Norwell Clippers and the #11 ranked Cohasset-Hull Skippers. Tonight was Senior Night and the Clippers used that energy felt throughout the building to dominate the first period. Norwell got on the board first 9:07 into the period as senior captain Timmy Ward scored shorthanded unassisted to put the Clippers ahead where they would stay for the remainder of the game… Shots in the first period were Norwell 10 Cohasset Hull 1.

The two teams traded power play opportunities throughout the second period and Cohasset Hull goalie senior captain Luke Cosentino put on a show making save after save including back-to-back shorthanded breakaways only one minute into the period. On the Clippers’ third power play of the period, sophomore Matt Cerruti, a big power forward, doubled the Norwell lead, tipping a shot in front of the net on a shot from senior captain Kevin Leary. Cerruti made it 3-0 on a shorthanded goal with only 10 seconds left in the period on a beauty of a pass from senior captain Austin Shea to send the two teams to the locker room. Shots in the second period were Norwell 21 for a two period total of 31 and Cohasset-Hull six for a two period total of seven.

Noorwell continued the offensive onslaught and puck possession into the third period but Cosentino held them in check until there were two minutes remaining. Junior forward Quinn Simmons lit the lamp to seal the victory and send the Clippers to a 4-0 win. Shots on goal in the third period were Norwell 16 for a game total 47 and Cohasset-Hull four for a game total of 11.
