Alexis Bernier

Alexis Bernier (D, R, 6’1″, 190, Baie-Comeau Drakkar, 06/21/2006)

Bernier is a 6’1″, 190 pound right shot defenseman who demonstrates high end edge control, balance and possesses solid puck skills, showcasing the potential to become a shutdown defenseman at the professional level. However, we feel to reach his full potential, he will need to continue improving and developing his explosiveness, strength, and overall agility. Despite this, he exhibits outstanding competitiveness and grit on the ice, complemented by a strong understanding of the game.

Offensively he has the ability to distribute the puck effectively with tape to tape passes and he has a good understanding of when to use the walls as outs. He takes direct routes to retrieve pucks and displays a solid shot from the point position. While he is still gaining strength and explosiveness, his intelligence and transitional play compensate for any physical limitations. We have no doubt that his intelligence and puck-moving abilities suggest potential success at the next level.

Overall, Bernier possesses the qualities necessary to be a late third or early fourth-round selection in the upcoming NHL Draft. With continued development and focus on improving his physical attributes, he has the potential to make a significant impact in professional hockey.
