Jacob Martin #18 (D, R, 6’0″, 190, NTDP U17, 07/20/2003, Wisconsin) (NTDP) – Martin is a solid defenseman for the NTDP and contributes on both ends of the ice. Defensively, he is sound positionally and does a great job of blocking shots. He is always willing to sacrifice his body and is very efficient at getting in the way of the puck. The University of Wisconsin commit also does a good job competing for pucks, especially in his own zone. If he wins puck battles he is quick in transition and pushes the puck up the ice quickly. This is especially true in the neutral zone where he looks to collect loose pucks, get his eyes up, and make quick stretch passes to create transition opportunities. In the offensive zone he does a good job of looking to get the puck towards the net. He doesn’t have a very heavy shot, but he is consistent about getting it through, often looking to quickly one-time pucks to the net after receiving passes from low to high. Martin isn’t a fancy player but he does usually make the right play and fills a needed role for his team. Overall, he is solid in his own zone, looks to move the puck up ice quickly, and can contribute to the offensive zone attack.
