While he has shown goal-scoring potential, his true strength lies in his ability to control the pace of the game and create scoring chances for himself and others. He made the initial play on the 1st goal by #4 Stiga in the 1st period, as he won a crucial defensive zone face-off, then received the puck back moments later, and then quickly moved the puck through the neutral zone which led to Stiga’s goal. He later scored a meaningless goal late in the 3rd period, as he picked off a pass from a Northeastern defenseman in the offensive zone, then skated in alone snapping a shot short-side over the glove for the goal from the low circle. Hagens went about 50-50 at the face-off dot on the night. With continued development and increased physicality, Hagens is poised to become a dynamic force on the ice.
