Eriks Mateiko (LW, L, 6’5″, 210, Saint John Sea Dogs, 11/18/2005)
Game Grade: B+
Comments: Strong skater for his size, big body presence, has the potential to be an effective two-way forward at this level and beyond, still needs to work a little on his agility and play in tight areas and traffic but it has really taken a step in the right direction since last season, he has very good puck skills, and a very accurate quick release, good two-way presence, still needs to engage more at certain times, but once he gets to the middle he has the tools to execute and create time, space and scoring opportunities, ripped an amazing wrist shot from the left dot to beat Keegan Warren, Really impressed with his vision and passing ability, here’s a player that has really grown in a lot of different areas to become more complete, He’s an incredibly confident player when firing on all cylinders, needs to bring that compete and confidence more frequently and on a consistent basis to reach his full potential
Vince Elie (RW, R, 5’7″, 182, Shawnigan Cataractes, 04/05/2005)
Game Grade B+
Comments: Vince Elie RSF Completely dominated the game versus the Cats, great speed to the outside, fully engaged and battled in every zone, tremendously accurate release, played in every situation, incredibly playing making ability and vision, isn’t scared to go to the dirty areas of the ice to create, he was a difference maker for his hockey club, he needs to bring that effort, ability and skill set to every game, his consistency has increased from a season ago which is great to see, this kid plays a lot bigger than his stature, he was terrific in traffic and when leaned on used his edge control and speed to power out of those situations.
