Tristan Broz | Fargo Force | USHL | L | F | 6’0″ | 180 | Minnesota | 2021 | Bloomington, MN | 2002 | 2020-2021: C+ |
USHL: Fargo Force at Sioux City Musketeers, March 17, 2021: Broz is a skilled forward for the Force who registered an assist on three shots in the game, and was most noticeable when he had the puck on his stick entering the offensive zone. This was evident on Fargo’s second goal where Broz was responsible for setting up the play by entering the offensive zone with the puck, delaying in space and passing through a seam high in the zone. The Minnesota commit has good vision and uses it well when he has time and space to make plays. He made a few really nice passes high in the offensive zone that led to high quality scoring chances. Grade: B+
USHL: Omaha vs Fargo, February 16, 2021: Broz is a skilled and crafty forward for the Force who likes to create on the rush and by using his agility to create separation in the offensive zone. On Fargo’s first goal that came just 27 seconds into the opening period, it was Broz who set the goal up by chipping the puck by a defender and hunting it down. After regathering the puck, he made a cheeky pass to the slot where he found his teammate for a quick early strike. The Minnesota commit also created scoring chances on the forecheck where he displayed a great stick and used his feet to pressure defenders into poor puck decisions. After creating a turnover, Broz immediately looked to generate offense, often finding his teammates in scoring areas. If he could not attack the net, he would often use his edges and quick cutbacks to create separation and open up other options. He is a dangerous offensive player and does his best work on the rush and low in the offensive zone. Grade: A
USHL: Fargo Force vs Waterloo Blackhawks. January 12, 2021: Broz is a skilled and patient forward that had a very nice goal in this game. On the goal, the Minnesota commit showed great patience and held the puck just on the side of the crease. He waited until his teammate and the play passed in front of him, used them as a screen, and buried a shot high short side. Aside from the goal, he was good on the rush, playing with his head up and slowing down the play to read what was in front of him. He has an accurate shot with a quick release, which can suit him on the powerplay. Broz has a tendency to get lost when the puck is not on his stick. Overall, he is a very skilled and patient forward, but does his best work with the puck on his stick and has a tendency to float when he is away from the play. Grade: B
NAHL/USHL: MN Magicians vs. Fargo Force, November 2020: Hard on pucks that any teammate will love, shown throughout the benches reaction. Finishes his checks with a statement. Showed that he has the playmaking ability to make passes in the offensive zone setting up teammates in scoring areas. Grade: B+
USHL: Omaha vs. Tri-City; Fargo vs. Sioux Falls, October 2020: Broz had a really nice game for the Force in this contest. He was creative and effective on the offensive side of the puck, contributing two assists in the game. One of those assists came on Fargo’s fourth goal in which Broz made a nice play to delay and maintain possession of the puck while entering the zone on what was, essentially, a one on three. He then distributed it to his teammate, Davidson, who was coming late in support and was, subsequently, able to put home a rebound chance. Broz also started the passing play that led to Fargo’s third goal, which was on the power play. Overall, Broz had a nice game offensively and showed his ability to create and make plays to his teammates. Grade: B+
Minnesota Elite League Week 1, October 2018: Tristian had a soft touch on the puck and the ability to attack defenders in one on one situations. He took it to the backhand and the forehand in traffic. He did get moved off the puck a bit as he still needs to get stronger, but showed his talent level and what he can become.
USA Hockey Select 16 National Development Camp, July 2018: Broz stayed involved and was able to make play on the rush. Drove hard to the net and had the edges to get to the crease. Played fast, kept his feet moving when he shot and worked all week. Showed touch in tight, some burst and patience to let plays develop. Has grown some the last year and carried his new size well. Played all 200 feet, shot with his feet moving and was tough to play against. Moved from Shattuck Bantams to Blake school last year. Game is trending upward.
Minnesota HS Report 1, January 2018: Tristan is only a freshman, but plays like a senior age player. He has an energizer mentality, is fearless along the boards or open-ice for puck battles, and creates havoc for the opposing team. Tristan has good stick handling skills and is a very solid skater as well. Tristan always seems to get the puck to the net with a shot somehow, which is why he earned himself a goal and an assist in this game. Grade: A
MN Tier 1 U15 League, August 2017: Dynamic playmaker with high end stick skills. Tristan beat numerous players one on one with his lateral movement and quick hard stick moves. He had chances to tie up two different games creating chances on his own and didn’t finish. Tristan was not as noticeable in the first of three games on the weekend and needs to work on his 200 foot game rather than shine on the offensive side of the rink. A rated skills and C grade on the weekend
MN Bantam Elite League, August 2017: A smooth skating player with good skill who played a little of wing and a little of center. We like his hands but nothing seemed to translate to offense for him this weekend. He plays committed in both ends but didn’t show the elite hockey sense to match his skill. Broz skated with Shattuck St. Mary’s 14U last season and will be playing at Blake High School this season.
U14 USA Tier 1 Nationals, April 2017: Tristan has good hands and made some plays on the rush. His decisions were quick and he seemed able to see the whole ice. His skating was good and his effort was solid.
