Game Played in UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex

Game Sheet

Roberto Leonardo Henriquez (G, L, 6’1″, 165, Green Bay Gamblers, 04/29/2007)

Game Rating

B+

This young goaltender showcases a solid foundation in his game, with effective use of depth and presence on the ice. He moves powerfully and adds size to create a seal on the ice, making him comfortable around his posts. His tracking ability is sound, and he can effectively control rebounds. However, there are areas for improvement, such as a more static composed stance and setting his feet on threats, which can lead to scrambling. Additionally, more frequent scans of the zone could help identify plays and improve precision in movement.

Comments: The Slovakian plays a more European style with a wide and low stance covering the lower half of the net relying on positioning and play reading to make saves. Joining the Gamblers halfway through last season we have had a decent sample size to see him at the USHL level. Although a lower and widened stance he still creates solid edgework and movement through his athletic ability. Although mobile while down maintaining his feet laterally could ease movement and aide in controlling some rebounds that gave Sioux falls some second chance opportunities and made his night more difficult seeing thirty-seven shots against. Surrendering two third period goals and unfortunately dropping this game in a shootout, a solid performance none the less to begin the season.

Comments: The 2005 born goaltender from Latvia is looking to build on an exciting season last year moving into his first season in the USHL. With powerful and athletic movement, he relies on his skating ability and a 6’2′ frame to contain the opposition. Controlling play in his own zone the stampede goaltender limits second chance opportunities controlling rebounds and directing them away from traffic. With very few flaws to his game the Stampede hope to have found a backbone moving into the upcoming season. Only surrendering two goals, a breakaway, and a backdoor tap in on a five on three penalty kill where you can’t really fault the goaltender the Latvian standout last season looks to be a solid addition and ready for USHL action.
