Alan Lendak (G, L, 6’1″, 177, Fargo Force, 07/24/2006)
Grade: A-
Comments: Fargo: Alan Lendak (2006) The Fargo goaltender and Slovakian native uses his size and positioning to create poise in the crease. Maintaining a wider stance challenges his movement at times but allows for a wide butterfly and clean seal of the ice. A tendency to reach for pucks outside of his body puts this widened stance and butterfly in stressed situations on secondary movement. Rebound control eliminates this strained movement as pucks are contained, moved to dead zones, or dropped in front of him for a quick cover. Gaining depth when necessary and reading plays with scans allows him to make full use of his frame. Comfortable around his posts using an overlap, reverse, as well as maintaining his feet makes awkward angles and behind the net plays with ease. A solid performance against Lincoln and securing the 3-2 win.
Yan Shostak (G, L, 6’0″, 185, Lincoln Stars, 03/30/2004, St. Cloud)
Grade: A-
Comments: Lincoln: Yan Shostak (2004) The veteran Stars goaltender and St. Cloud commit has a solid foundation that sees steady hands and precise powerful movement. Combined with solid tracking, allows Shostak to control rebounds and the pace of the game inside his own zone. Centering his body on pucks and dropping into pucks eliminates extra movement. Very fluid in and out of his posts and comfortable in a reverse as well as maintaining his feet keeps him mobile when plays are down low. A solid performance and skillset for the Belarusian to build upon moving forward, but ultimately falling short in this one.
