Game Sheet

Caleb Heil (G, L, 6’2″, 196, Madison Capitols, 06/17/2006, North Dakota)

Game Rating

Comments: Heil played an overall strong game. He has strong movement and excellent balance. He routinely moved around the crease with smooth, powerful movements. He showed consistently proper play reading and high hockey IQ. When this was combined with his movement he was able to identify scoring threats quickly and arrived early & on his feet to set up for the shot. This led to 99% positive rebound control for the shots faced. He struggled with is angles in the first period, getting beat short side on two clear sighted shots faced. He did make a correction in his angles and was solid the rest of the game. He mentally reset after the two early goals and provided quality goaltending the rest of the way. He stopped .85 goals above expected based on the volume and quality of shots faced. He also demonstrated strong puck playing skills, making simple yet effective passes to his defensemen and occasionally his wingers to initiate zone exits. While Heil received a lower rating for this game (based primarily on goals saved above expected) his underlying fundamentals (movement, play reading and hockey IQ) suggests this game is not indicative of a typical performance for him.

Luke Carrithers (G, L, 6’1″, 199, USA NTDP U18, 01/11/2008, Western Michigan)

Comments: Carrithers played a very aggressive gain. He has strong movement and strong play reading that he used to establish aggressive depth throughout the game. This was especially evident on low to high plays where he would shoot off the goal line and quickly set up outside the top of the crease. He had a tendency to lose his balance on net front scramble plays but used his athleticism to find ways to make the necessary saves. He struggled with lateral scoring chances, to be expected from an 18 year old playing in the USHL. He had strong rebound control, showing positive rebound control on 83% of the shots faced. He stopped.7 goals above expected based on the volume and quality of shots faced. Lastly he played the puck effectively during the game, initiating breakout passes to his defensemen.
