Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau (G, L, 6’3″, 196, Des Moines Buccaneers, 09/14/2005, New Hampshire)
Game Rating
A-
Eliot Séguin-Lescarbeau is a skilled player who effectively utilizes his size and stance on the ice. He consistently adjusts his angle to stay centered on pucks, allowing him to track them well and read plays. His rebound control is solid, although sometimes he loses depth. When moving with the puck, Séguin-Lescarbeau tends to overcompensate by reaching out, which can create holes in his stance. In general, he maintains a strong set of fundamentals and frequently scans the ice for threats. However, there are moments where he overextends himself or retreats into his crease, losing size and mobility. Despite these minor flaws, Séguin-Lescarbeau shows promise as a player with a solid foundation to build upon.

Comments: The 2005 born goaltender from Quebec relies on his fundamentals and plays a simple game using his size to his advantage. His movement is powerful and precise but once he loses his feet a tends to struggle rotationally possibly from dropping hips and chest coming forward. A constant backside leg adjustment keeps him mobile and centered on pucks. A more active stick to control rebounds and elevate pucks could eliminate more second chance opportunities but pucks to his upper body were swallowed well or kept close. Frequent scans of the zone mostly when pucks are down low allowing the Canadian to identify threats. Struggling with traffic a little bit he tends to reduce depth and look low at times playing percentages. Doing a good job in this game to keep the Buccaneers within a few goals surrendering three goals on 38 shots in the 3-2 loss. Grade: A-

Melvin Strahl, a Swedish goaltender with a strong fundamental base, is known for his powerful movement and solid body control. He effectively seals the ice and holes through his body, keeping an upright chest and controlling rebounds to his upper body. Strahl’s calm presence in the crease allows him to take reads and scan the ice well, creating precision in his movements. His technical skills are sound, enabling him to make saves with ease and drop into pucks centering his body. At 6’3″ tall, Strahl can see over screens from a relaxed stance, sealing the ice and all holes while in and around his posts. His head frequently scans the zone for players and threats. While he may struggle with releasing pucks or allowing second chance opportunities, Strahl’s overall skillset is solid and effective. He is comfortable in awkward angles and takes big saves on penalty kills. His performance can vary depending on specific shots, but his foundation remains strong.

Comments: The Phantoms goaltender from Solleftea, Sweden uses technical and precise movement aided by a larger frame and athletic ability to complete his game. His movement is powerful and precise stemming from a condensed stance and controlled upper body. Although technical he can make more athletic saves and movements when necessary. Using his larger frame to his advantage he plays a mid to high depth and gains depth appropriately. Taking frequent scans/ shoulder checks of the ice aids in his precision of movement and helps identify threats. A reliable and visible tracking ability aids in his rebound and body control to center his body on pucks. Comfortable in a reverse when pucks are at an awkward angle, he is still able to stay compact and create a nice seal of the ice. The Columbus draft pick has a well-rounded game and only find himself in trouble when he extends for pucks. A solid performance although not busy stopping 18 of 20 in the 3-2 win. Garde: A-
