Game Sheet

General Game Notes: This game was back and forth for most of the night, but Swift Current had more dangerous chances and more grade A’s. The majority of Moose Jaws shots were from the outside or from range; they were opportunistic in their scoring. Swift Current was better in this game, but Moose Jaw kept themselves in the game until Pantelakis scored five-hole in the shootout for the only goal and game winner.

Showed his glove off with a big glove save on another one-timer in the slot. He had a strong push across the crease to seal the backdoor and preserve the one-goal lead. At times, he became a bit scrambly in the crease, but overall, he handled plays well and competed to hold positioning through traffic.

Comments: Rocha plays with good depth, sharp movement, and strong reads, controlling rebounds reasonably well. He made a sliding save on a high-slot one-timer, reading the play well and pre-scanning for threats. His sharp movement allowed him to move around the net quickly and stay set on shots. Late in the game, he made a key OT breakaway stop, staying low, tracking the move, and sealing the bottom of the net by getting his pads flush to the post.

He broke up an early PK entry with an active stick, and surfed well in the neutral zone and up ice to keep tight gaps. On the power play, he runs the QB spot and moves the puck well. Comments: Kosick showed shifty edgework, puck skills, and strong wall play. He utilized his edges and punched off a check on the half wall, used his hands to beat the next defender, got hit and still delivered a backhand feed to the high slot for a Grade-A chance. He showed his puck skills later in the game and finished a bouncing puck off his skate while on one knee to score the go-ahead goal.

He set up Kosick in the slot on a give-and-go for a quality chance and showed patience walking around a defender on a cross-ice feed to hit the backdoor for a tap-in. He applied strong pressure on the forecheck late, keeping Moose Jaw trapped in their end with no exit, showing his compete level and situational awareness in a close game.

Comments: Gauchier showed strong shooting ability, good stick on the forecheck, and attacking IQ. He scored the first goal with a hard, accurate shot from the right circle, top shelf. He delayed on entry to draw two defenders before hitting the third man high for a quality look, showing his IQ off the rush and poise with the puck.

1 Viewing

Comments: Sexsmith competed hard with quick feet and strong stick checking. Early in the game, he stripped a defenceman below the goal line and fed a late wave for an early goal. After an early shift, he was less noticeable until late in the game. He skates well and has some playmaking ability, but I did not see much. Not sure if he was limited on ice, but his first few shifts were good, moving his feet and creating outlets on the wall.
