
Exeter, NH– The Albany Academy Cadets and Hebron Lumberjacks played a neutral site game at Exeter Academy at noon on Saturday.
The Cadets who beat Phillips Exeter 2-1 last night came out quickly in the first period. Albany Academy carried the play and had some quality chances but junior Hebron goalie Julian Karagiannis held the game scoreless. With 2:39 left, however, senior Luke Kurdziolek buried a nice pass from junior Michael Malatino to make it 1-0 Albany Academy. Soon after junior Ryan Wead scored from classmate Brady Hubbard and it was 2-0 with 35 seconds left. That is how the first period ended.
The Cadets came out hard and looked to end any hope Hebron had of a comeback. Wead popped a goal home from Malatino and it was 3-0, 6:07 into the second period. Albany Academy scored on the power play a couple minutes later as junior Lorenzo Mara snapped a cross zone pass to Austin Jerzak who one timed it home and it was 4-0, 8:41 into the second frame. The Cadets were rolling. Hebron struck back with an Anthony Lombardo scored to make it 4-1 with 8:00 left in the second. One minute and seven seconds later, the Cadets got the goal back with a Skyler Michell tally from Jack Darby to make it 5-1. Albany Academy kept coming and 12:32 into the second, Maltino scored from Kurdiolek and Jack Dalto and it was 6-1. Maltino scored again on a 5v3 power play with assists to Letta and Dalto. It was 7-1 Cadets with 1:30 left in the second. The period ended and Albany Academy took a 7-1 lead into the locker room.
The third period was sloppy and most everyone wanted it to be over. 2006 Caleb Murray came in to the et for Cadet starter Will Mizenko and did not allow a goal. Albany Academy added three more goals. Hubbard from Alex Marasciulo and Marty Mageletta made it 8-1. Then Letta from Mageletta and Marasciulo made it 9-1. Finally 11:36 into the final frame, Jerzak scored on a breakaway from Darby and it was 10-1. That was the final score.
