Greenwich, CT – In a much-anticipated early-season contest between Brunswick and St. George’s, Brunswick provided a full 60-minute performance. From the drop of the puck, the game was physical and high-paced. When the final buzzer sounded, Brunswick took this one 6-1.
Ben Taylor got things going for Brunswick 4:21 into the first period off an excellent redirection of a shot from the point from Princeton commit, Hampus Vandenberg. James Jackson added to the Brunswick lead three minutes later off a great individual
effort on the forecheck. He was relentless in his puck pursuit and was rewarded when
he broke up the play and took it straight to the net for the finish. At the 9:15 mark of the first period, Ben Lombardi provided another individual forecheck off a bit of a broken rush, where he competed all the way through the play. Lombardi, who dove to swipe for the puck to beat opposing goalie Alex Wang back to the net, was able to get the finish.
Jack Thompson added to the scoring at 1:55 of the second frame off a bouncing puck rebound score. With 2:41 left in the period, Dartmouth commit Mason St. Louis and Owen Giles got behind the defense off a heads-up stretch pass play by Brunswick goaltender Zai Ferraro.
The third frame had a goal for each team, scored by Hunter Hanford for Brunswick, and
Max Donatelli for St. George’s. Zai Ferraro picked up the win in net while Alex Wang
took the loss in net for St. George’s.
