Chowder Cup – U19 Division – 2024

Scouts traveled down to the Foxboro Sports Center for the 2024 Women’s Chowder Cup! Congratulations to Inspire Hockey for a fantastic tournament. Over 25 top players were picked to be featured in our report. We tried our best to see as much of the teams as possible. Below players are listed under there respected team in declining letter grade order. *Some rosters and players were missing, we tried our best to track down as much information as we could*

SHC 

Brynn Deshaies #13 (CT JR. Rangers, F) : Deshaies has good hands and uses them to feel the pressure from the opposition and then find space to play make or escape away. She likes to slow things down and really survey the ice in front of her. She has quick feet in tight spaces and her patience also helps with her playmaking and being a driving force for her team’s offense. Grade: B

Sarah Doherty #2 (D) : Doherty is a great skater with good edge work to allow herself time and space to make good breakouts. She is always moving and making herself an option in the offensive zone. She also has good intentions with the puck to let plays in front of her open up. Her hands and poise really help her with that. Grade: B-

Inspire Hockey 

Lindsay Stepnowski #29 (Loomis Chaffee School, F, 2026) Stepnowski has great hands that get her around the opposition and into open space. She can dance around 1 or even 2 at times to get her chance at a shooting position. She plays very fast at a high pace which matches well with her ability to pick up speed in open ice. She also can find any lane and make a play based on what she sees. Grade: A  

Violet Carroll #11 (Williston Northampton School, F, 2025, Holy Cross) : Carrol has quick feet matched with good hands that make her deadly around the net and in tight spaces. She is also slippery, meaning she can maneuver her way out of traffic and get chances on the net. She is a great shooter and also a great finisher that allows her to light the lamp more often than not. Grade: A-

Gretta Hulbig #16 (Noble and Greenough School, F, 2026) : Hulbig is a taller player that is strong along the boards and can battle with anyone in the ice. She plays at a high pace and can really play at a high speed in open ice. She has an act to go to the net and wants to make herself an option in high danger areas at all times. Grade: A-

Anika Singh #7 (Massachusetts Spitfires U16, F, 2026) : Singh has great puck management and knows exactly where to put it to have her teammates succeed. She utilizes a high pace with quick passes that are often let out on small spaces which is a good skill to hone for the next level. She is unselfish and her hands get her to crest time and space to really showcase her playmaking on the ice. Grade: A-

Catie Putt #21 (Williston Northampton School, D, 2026) : Putt has quick feet that allow her to be a great player to break pucks out or walk the line to find shot/passing lanes. Her pace of play is high and her hands allow her to make great passes to her forwards and D partner. She is always engaged with the play in front of her and her reaction time is fun to watch because she can play well anywhere around the ice. Grade: B+

WC Swans Black 

Mia Gonsalves #30 (Holderness School, G, 2025) Gonsalves is vocal in her crease and lets her team know what she wants out of them coverage wise. She is an athletic goaltender who moves well in her crease which helps her track pucks and stay square. She keeps her team in games and is confident in her abilities. Grade: B+

Grace Matthews #67 (Brewster Academy, F, 2024, Arcadia University) : Matthews has good hands and a very balanced skating stride that gets her up and down the ice quite well. She has a high compete level making sure along the boards she does the right things by putting her body into the opposition and freeing up pucks. Around the net she has a good shot and plays her role of being a competitor very well. Grade: B

Geena Cookinham #83 (Lawrence Academy, F, 2024) : Cookinham has nice hands and is trusted to play in key moments for her team. She is fearless with the puck and will test the middle of the ice to make a play. She did exactly that in the semis when she used her skills to get to the net and bury home the game winner to send her team to the finals. Grade: B

Cailean Corbally #19 (Brewster Academy, D, 2025) Corbally is a good skating defender who uses her skating ability and vision to find lanes and move her team up ice. Her hands keep up with her strong pace and she is not afraid to find her way. Grade: B-

Cheema 

Talia Stein-Trujilo #4 (Ironbound U19, F) Stein is strong and puts in great work around the boards to win puck battles for her team. She chases down pucks in the offensive zone and puts good efforts into puck possession. Around the net she is solid making herself a passing option and getting pucks to the net to create scoring chances and rebounds. Grade: B

Annabelle Matchett #36 (Ironbound Elite U16, D, 2025) Matchett is fearless with the puck and will power move into the middle of the ice to create offense. She plays with no quit and is engaged on the ice. She tracks pucks and will get the puck on her stick to get pucks on net to create additional scoring chances. She uses her teammates and has smart puck management to keep away from turnovers. Grade: B

WC Swans White 

Katherine Flippo #19 (Tilton, F, 2025) Flippo battles and is relentless all over the ice with her high motor. She is a balanced skater and strong on her skates that help her get to pucks and engage strongly along the boards. Grade: B-

Molly Gooch #26 (Milton Academy, F) Gooch forechecks and wants to be first to pucks to get possession of the puck. When she has the puck she protects and gets to open space and shooting areas. She always gets shots on net and makes the goalie work when she is on the ice. Grade: B-

FCA

Tayler Treat #8 (Alexandria High, F) Treat is a great two way forward. She does her job in each zone to make herself a factor. Along the boards she battles and wins pucks with possession. She possesses the puck up ice well which helps her team get in on the attack. She also supports the middle of the ice and stops the opposition from getting to a strong shooting area. Grade: B

Tristyn Wolner #2 (New Ulm High, F) : Wolner is a forechecker who uses successful pins to wear down the opposition and let them create the turnover. As a taller player she uses her size and reach to battle hard along the boards. She uses her reach to her advantage to break up passing lanes. She also plays with zero quit and wants to make a difference each shift. Grade: B-

Lily Jorgenson #97 (Willmar High, F) : Jorgenson chases after pucks and is always moving trying to disrupt the opposing defenders. She has a high motor and puts in a lot of effort into each shift. At the faceoff dot she is aggressive and can snap back crucial draws to win possession quickly for her team in the offensive zone. Grade: B-

Mole HC

9 is a skilled forward who wants to play fast and get up ice in a hurry. She uses strong crossovers to generate a ton of speed to have the chance to blow by defenders. Her puck control is high and keeps up with her style of play. She plays fast to keep defenders on their toes and see if she can push them out of position. Grade: B+

17 is a high-effort defender who fights and battles for pucks. She takes an aggressive and bullish approach by taking the body first to eventually free up the loose puck. She has a balanced stride and gets around the ice quite nicely. She is a good puck handler and never gives up on any play and stays engaged with what is in front of her. Grade: B

OG Selects 

Eryka Derocha #89 (Rochester Jr. Americans, F, 2026) DeRocha is a well-positioned player who we noticed in a good spot on the PP. She is in a shooting position and will showcase her shot that gets on net in a hurry and accurately. She has good edges that get her around the ice quickly and strong hands that help with that as well. She is also a solid playmaker and wants to get her team involved in the offense. Grade: B+

Sarah Hensel #2 (Rochester Jr. Americans U16 Tier 1, D, 2026) :Hensel is a great defender who understands the defense position in every aspect. Defensively she is good one on one and can make great tape to tape passes for strong D zone exits. Offensively she is quick on her executions and has her head up looking for an outlet pass. She has good quick feet that help her move and find open lanes to create stronger offense. Her shots from the point are good and low and have a strong chance of going in. Grade: B+

Bailey MacKeller #16 (Nichols School, F) MacKeller is a strong forechecker who hounds the puck and wants to be first. She is always around the net and causing good havoc and traffic in front of the goalie. She battles hard for possession of the puck and will use her stick and feet to bully her way out of board play scrums for the puck. Grade: B

Eva Mayo #6 (Kent School, D/F, 2025) : Mayo moves the puck fast and wants to play fast and keep a strong pace of play. She is not afraid to make tough passes through players to make creative plays through the middle of the ice. Opens up the ice by being engaged on the point and always moving looking for shot and pass lanes. She also battles hard and does a great job winning possession of the puck. Grade: B 

Carolyn Bourgeault #32 (Syracuse Valley Eagles U19, G, 2023, Concordia (Minn.)) : Bourgeault is square and super focused in her crease. We had a ton of confidence in her, as we are sure her teammates did, in her keeping them in games with timely saves. Grade: B

Team one 07

Maddy P. is super focused and square to pucks. Her ability to track pucks from distance and through screens was fun to watch. We know she can continue this strong momentum into her season. Grade: B+

Reese C. has quick feet and clean edge work that help her spin and escape away from pressure that the opposition gives her. She plays at a high pace and matches that pace with quick and clean passes up ice. She also walks the blue line well and wants to put shots on net. Grade: B

Ava G. is a taller forward who is strong on her skates and stick. She plays with a high motor and gets in on the attack to hound pucks. She engages in battles and thrives to win possession of the puck. When she gets the puck she has good hands and controls it well up ice. Grade: B
