JWHL 2024 Playoffs

JWHL Playoffs were hosted in the Boston area at the Canton Ice house. 8 teams in the U19 division competed hard in the playoffs and it was NAHA who came up on top. Players are listed under there team by descending letter grade order.

NAHA 

Kassidy Carmichael #19 (NAHA White 19U, F, 2025, Ohio State) : Carmichael is a poised skater which makes her smart around the ice to stay engaged to the play and be exactly where she needs to be at all times. When she is in a shooting area she takes her chances and will utilize her slick hands by shooting off of a toe drag to change the angle of the shot and make things more difficult for the opposing goaltender. She handles the puck so well and carries it up ice with smart zone entries that make her a factor all around the ice. Grade: A

Alanna Devlin #3 (NAHA White 19U, F, 2024, Boston College) : Devlin has a good stick and is a true factor all around the ice. She is good in the offensive zone to win board battles and create strong possession with the puck. When she has the puck on her stick she can find passing lanes and set up her teammates with good chances around the net. She moves well with the puck and with her good skating, she pulls defenders out of lanes and that’s when she decides to move the puck, fun to watch. Defensively she plays aggressive and smothers the opposing team to not have any room to make offense. Grade: A 

Mikah Keller #28 (NAHA White 19U, F, 2025, Penn State) : Keller is a quick skater matched with good hands that let her maneuver around the ice with good pace. She gets to open space and opens up the ice to create offense for her team. Her fast play makes it hard for defenders to cover her and get the puck from her. Grade: B+ 

Ireland Frederickson #42 (NAHA White 19U, F, 2025, UNH) : Frederickson is a high energy player who puts a lot of effort into her game. She must come off the ice exhausted every time because she never takes a shift off of forechecking and backchecking. She does the right things by forechecking and backchecking but with a purpose. She has an active stick and closes in on players fast to give them very little room. She is also a good skater and handles a high pace of play well. Grade: B+

Ally Cohen #26 (NAHA White 19U, F, 2024) : Cohen is a smaller player but a very quick and capable player. She is always moving her feet and playing with a strong motor, putting effort into getting open and closing in on defenders to let them make mistakes. When she has the puck, she has good skill and can make a play with the puck to make her effective around the perimeter of the ice. Grade: B 

Grace Tullock #24 (NAHA White 19U, D, 2024, Penn State) : Tullock is poised with the puck. She has her head up and makes good first passes that allow her team to storm up ice and create strong offense. Her regroups are fast and planned well to not rush a decision or make a bad play with the puck. Grade: B

Northwood 

Laura Dyke #22 (Northwood School, D, 2025, RIT) : Dyke was one of the best defenseman represented at the tournament. She walks the line strong and with a lot of power to really explode off the wall and into the middle of the ice to find shot and pass lanes. She plays a fast game and does not want lanes to get clogged to ruin her low heavy shots on the cage. She plays with a high pace and is ready to make the jump into a higher role. Grade: A- 

Loelie Lachapelle #20 (Northwood School, F, 2026) : Lachapelle is a strong forward who has a bit of a swagger to her game. She has great hands and you can tell she is confident when controlling the puck. In tight spaces her hands allow her to find ice and her edges let her escape away from pressure and she uses her back to shield defenders from taking the puck from her. She gets to the real dangerous areas of the ice and can finish with her hard accurate shot that we have seen in the past find the back of the net plenty. Grade: B+

Scout Oudemool #24 (Northwood School, F, 2024, Harvard) : Oudemool is a fast paced player with quick feet and hands that allow her to bounce around the ice smoothly and create space for herself. She likes to be fast and what helps with that is her puck moving. She uses her teammates and is an accurate passer. Grade: B+ 

Brooke Kelley #16 (Northwood School, F, 2024, RIT) : Kelley is a taller player with good edges and uses them to move around the ice fast to get to her areas of the ice. She has good offensive instincts and qualities. She has good hands that allow her to get to shooting areas of the ice and utilize her quick release which will get her more chances at the next level. Grade: B 

Sophia DeAnzeris #8 (Northwood School, D, 2025, UVM) : Deanzeris is a taller defender who does her job well with little to no mistakes. She makes low danger plays and does a fine job at it. She moves the puck to teammates on the tape to minimize their chances of not controlling it. She has good feet that aid her transitions up ice to make her a very solid option to give ice time to. Grade: B 

Stanstead College 

Rosalie Tremblay #8 (Stanstead College, F, 2026) : Tremblay plays much older and mature than her age. She was a big piece for this stanstead team. She has shifty hands and smartness that make her a great play maker and decision maker. Her zone entries are calculated and with a purpose to where she puts the puck to an area a teammate can win a race to. Good around the net and stands her ground. Controls the puck well and is a good skater with or without the puck. Grade: A- 

Penelope Lavoie #12 (Stanstead College, D, 2026) : Lavoie was one of the best two way defenders in the tournament. Offensively she is good with the puck and was a good option to move the puck to at the point. She sees the ice well and knows where to put pucks. Her shot is hard and she gets them low to hit sticks or find a lane. Defensively she is so good one on one and utilizes a good stick to keep players away from the middle of the ice. She plays well in small areas and when a breakout is needed she makes smart first passes out of the zone. Grade: B+ 

Maxim Tremblay #11 (Stanstead College, F, 2025, Colgate) : Tremblay is a tall and very physical player who is always moving and doing something on the ice. What we mean is if she is not scoring or playmaking she is making a difference by being hard along the boards and uses her size to bully the opposition. Offensively she is smart to get to high scoring areas and can get shots on net for her team. Grade: B+

Alexia Aubin #14 (Stanstead College, F, 2024, Colgate) : Aubin sends good passes around the ice surface due to her good vision. She can play make down low or assist in transitions up ice in the neutral zone with quick accurate passes. She can take ice herself because of how well she handles the puck and skates with the puck. Off the puck she showed us fast aggressive forechecks that can really hem a team down low in their own end. Grade: B 

Charlie Pampalon #20 (Stanstead College, F, 2026) : Pampalon is a hard working player who we noticed solely due to her efforts on the ice. Her coach must love her game due to putting in 110% into each shift. She has high energy to forecheck and uses her body along the boards to free up pucks. She also is always working and putting herself in the dirty areas to make a difference in the game. Grade: B

Charlotte Labreche #10 (Stanstead College, F, 2026) : Labreche has a high motor that she uses to press the opposing defense and make breaking out on her team real tough. She is a good skater who moves around the ice well. With the puck she likes to find open teammates for scoring chances and prolong a strong offensive possession. We also liked how she was trusted to kill penalties which her skating and stick helped because she was engaged on and off the puck. Grade: B  

Ella Malloy #4 (Stanstead College, D, 2025, Holy Cross) : Malloy moves the puck up ice well with tape to tape passes that are hit in stride. That means when she is on the ice her teammates can continue to motor up the ice seamlessly and not have to wait for pucks to get to them. She has good edges herself and for a smaller defender that is key. Grade: B 

Rothesay

Sadie Brown #17 (Rothesay Netherwood School, D, 2024) : Brown  plays an aggressive game with a lot of bite. She takes no nonsense from anyone. She stands her ground and seems to enjoy the physical game. With the puck, she moves it up ice well and makes simple passes look more easy. She can hit players on the tape and be that person who can make the smart first pass. She has an added poise with the puck which comes from confidence and she is okay with making the best play instead of just the first she sees. She also uses her voice and lets her teammates know where she is on the ice. Grade: B+   

Emily Thomas #6 (Rothesay Netherwood School, F) : Thomas has a good shot that gets on net in a hurry and has an opportunity to go in when she’s in a good spot on the ice. We saw her score at least one this playoff which was nice to see because she can shoot to score. We also liked the way she transitions up ice and can make the short quick pass with her teammates for solid zone entries. Grade: B

Karelle Daigle #8 (Rothesay Netherwood School, F, 2025) : Daigle is a smart player who puts pucks in good spots on the ice. She will put it to open space and make sure she is not putting it in a high danger area. She handles the puck real well too which aids her ability to hold and control the puck long enough to make good decisions. She also has good edges that allow her to avoid pressure and find space. Grade: B 

Mount Academy 

Mollie Power #4 (Mount Academy U19, F, 2024) : Power has good IQ when she has the puck. Her playmaking is smart due to her finding players who have space in front of them to get it done with the puck and not handcuff them. She handles the puck well and her strong edges help her take ice well and be hard to cover one on one from how much she moves. She is also good on the draw and wins the important faceoffs. Grade: B 

Jessica Mercer #14 (Mount Academy U19, D, 2024) : Mercer is a pretty good skater who can get to pucks in her corner. We noticed her most on breakouts and her ability to find the simple passes up ice to allow low risk plays to develop. Defensively she keeps good gaps and we really like how active her stick is which really helps clog lanes and make it hard for the other team to play when she is on the ice. Grade: B 

Emma Power #12 (Mount Academy U19, F, 2025) : Power is a taller forward who is a good skater to allow her to cover the ice real well. She is not afraid to be in the middle of the ice and force her way into high traffic areas. She has good instincts around the net and can really make life difficult for the opposing team to move her and not allow her chances. She also uses the body along the boards the right way to free up pucks and win possession. Grade: B 

Marissa Dawson #18 (Mount Academy U19, F) : Dawson plays at a fast pace and really likes to bounce around the ice surface in a good way. She is always taking up space on the ice or getting down deep towards defenders as an effective forechecker. She is a good skater too which helps her around the ice and she can control the puck well to find space up ice. Grade: B 

Pride

Sophia Leto #16 (Washington Pride U19, F/D, 2026) : We saw Leto play center and we really liked her game. In the faceoff dot she was snapping back wins and seemed comfortable in high pressure faceoffs. She reads the ice and the opposing team well because she uses her stick and quickness to jump into passing lanes and create turnovers for the pride. She is a taller player so her reach covers a lot of the ice and she takes full advantage. Grade: B 

Balmoral Hall 

Hayley McDonald #11 (Balmoral Hall, F, 2026) : McDonald was one of the best skilled players in the playoffs, top 3 for sure. She is so good in the offensive zone to where she can beat you with speed, stick skills or her shot. As a taller player she can be a force like Auston Matthews to where she uses her stride and body to get to space and will make you pay if you give her any sort of room. Her finishing ability is very strong and she can really rack up points if she wants to. She has a hard shot and the Matthews comparison is a good one in our opinion but defensively if she watches film on him on the defensive side of the puck, she can be even better which will be scary for the opposition. Grade: A 

Morgan Smith #10 (Balmoral Hall, F, 2024, Bemidji) : Smith is a skilled player who has good teammate utilization. She likes to hit teammates in stride and put them in good positions to get strong offensive chances. She is also a good skater which helps her move around the ice and open up passing lanes. Grade: B+

Linnea Misner #17 (Balmoral Hall, D, 2025) : Misner is a smart player who makes good decisions with the puck. She likes to keep plays fast and quick to really up the pace of play. She is good in transition and can get her team up ice with accurate passes out to the wings. In the attacking zone she puts on good shots on net that cause rebounds which is good for offense. Grade: B+ 

Kurtia Yetman #7 (Balmoral Hall, D, 2024) : Yetman has real good breakouts that are in stride to her wingers that allow them to motor up ice seamlessly. She is always moving the puck and never likes to slow things down which is a good strategy for her game. She is good with her stick and uses it to jump into passing lanes and create possession for her team. She also makes good decisions with the puck and is okay with just getting the puck to open space to minimize high danger plays against her line. Grade: B+

Braya Kapusta #16 (Balmoral Hall, F, 2026) : Kapusta is a real worker on the ice. She battles hard and likes to muck it up to really make life hard on the opposition. She has great fight in her game and uses her body real well to free up pucks and protect it along the outside of the ice. She is a good skater and can escape from pressure and uses her confidence with the puck to be a great option down low for her team. Grade: B+ 

Rowyn Ringor #13 (Balmoral Hall, F, 2024) : Ringor is a quick player who is very skilled to manage the puck and possess it well around the ice surface. She gets pucks to the net and creates good scoring chances when she is on the ice. Grade: B

Makenna Williment #20 (Balmoral Hall, F, 2025) : Williment is a taller player who has a long reach that helps her support pucks and keep plays inside the attacking zone. She is good in front of the net and gets herself in good position for tips and dig at pucks around the crease. She also likes taking the puck to the middle of the ice and making the goalie move to create more shooting spots on net. Grade: B
