Game #1 between the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite and the South Hills Amateur Hockey Association Panthers (SHAHA) took place at the Pens Elite home rink and was an exciting one with some animosity possibly still stemming from MidAm play last season. A tight-checking game through two periods quickly opened up in the third period as the Pens Elite tallied 3 more goals. However, the Panthers, had a never say die attitude and continued to fight, mounting a bit of a comeback that just ran out of time, finishing with a 4-3 result.
