The hometown Kelowna Rockets seemed to lack urgency in this affair and ended up on the wrong side of a 3-1 score at the hands of the Seattle Thunderbirds. One of the more exciting games of the year this year with a late comeback from the Rockets and a third period that produced five of the nine goals scored in the game. The Rockets stunned their opponents with two goals in the final minute, the first to tie it and the second to win it, capping off an incredible finish.

The Portland Winterhawks battled back from a two goal deficit to defeat the Everett Silvertips 3–2 in overtime. Goaltender Ondrej Stebetak was the backbone of the comeback, turning aside 50 shots.
