Neutral Zone NHL’s Ian Moran’s comments, November 2020: Brennan might be under sized, but he is quick and really agile. He’s got great balance, poise and I from what I’ve seen his game awareness is excellent. He might not pass the eye test because he’s around six feet, but his numbers are excellent and he looks like a gamer to me. I know that everyone falls in love with the size of goalie prospects, but Brennan’s numbers are consistently very good in high scoring leagues so he is a young goalie that we will be watching closely this year.
USHL Goalie Report: 11/12-11/15, November 2020: Boynton had a great start to the season earning a shutout win in his first start stopping all 18 shots he faced. Despite not facing a ton of shots, he showed good focus for the entire sixty minutes and was forced to make some difficult saves throughout the game. He has really good body control in his butterfly, and paired with his skating ability he is able to be in position on any secondary chances. He is also controlled when moving laterally on cross-ice plays, and does a good job of not getting too far ahead of the play. This allowed him to make some big saves on odd man rushes and also when attacking players made more than one pass attacking the net. A solid start for Boynton helped his team win their second game of the weekend, and he will look to build on this shutout performance. Grade: A
Top 100 Uncommitted Prospects, July 2020: Brenna was Neutral Zone’s 98th rated uncommitted player born on the years 1999, 2000 and 2001, as well as our 13th rated goalie
Kings of East Coast, August 2019: We did not have our goalie scout here but we noted Brennan. He has decent size but his athleticism is what stood out. His feet, balance and skating were all excellent. He collected pucks in scrums and challenged shooters. He came out and stopped dumps and set up his defensemen. He was so poised, active and confident that he looked intimidating at times. Listed as headed to Fargo (USHL), he stood out here to our scouts who are not goalie experts. Grade: A
Minnesota High School AA Section Playoff Preview, February 2019: Boynton had an incredible .940% heading into the 2019 Minnesota High School State Tournament.
