Neutral Zone NHL’s Ian Moran’s comments, April 2021: You have to love his size. And more importantly you have to love his upward trajectory. When I look at Chase I think about what we’re going to have on our hands in a few years. He’s a large human who keeps improving….and improving. Obviously it will be a big jump to junior hockey next year, but I’ll be looking for his big frame to continue filling out and his legs to gain explosiveness. Chase is a player who might shock us in a few years.
U18: Rocky Mountain Roughriders vs Maine Nordiques, April, 2021: Throughout the entire game I felt Chase was the best player on the ice for both teams. His skating ability and size create a matchup nightmare for the opposing team. He was able to generate chances off the rush and by overpowering people down low. Finally tying the game up late with an excellent quick release, which gave the goaltender zero chance to make a save. Chase is going to be a very interesting prospect as he makes the jump to junior hockey. If he is able to continue to add some strength to his big frame, watch out. Grade A-
Pro-Am Junior Chowder Cup, August 2018: Davis is a big boy at what looks to be around 6’3 and he does not show any fear on his shifts. He is willing to mix it up physically and throw his weight around when necessary. Ultimately he prefers to be making plays as he has a lithe, athletic frame to work with. He also carries a long stick which enables him to quickly regain possession or disrupt someone else’s. We liked his hustle when he didn’t have the puck, especially on the backcheck to chase down a forward. He has good top-end speed for his size, but we think with added training he could be even faster in time. Cushing will be a great place for him to add to his game and take the next step in his development. Weekend Grade: B
