Danila Yurov | Metallurg Magnitogorsk | KHL | L | RW | 6’1″ | 179 | Chelyabinsk | 2003 | 2021-2022: A |
U20: Belarus vs Russia, May 7, 2022: In the 3-1 loss to Belarus Yurov earned 8:21 in TOI, but played a very impactful 4:44 while on the power play where he was primarily positioned as the bumper. From the middle of the slot he showed an easy first touch that allowed him to handle rocket passes very cleanly as well as the ability to one-touch passes in every direction. Yurov also showed the awareness to slide into the dot lane for better pass receiving lanes and one-time shot opportunities. He showed an understanding of how to create mismatches in speed while on line rushes and was very confident when attacking the crease for rebounds.
KHL: HC Metallurg Magnitogorsk vs HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, April 9, 2022: Yurov only played 3:06 in the third period of big Matallurg win, but he made an impact by getting an assist on Brendan Leipsic’s second goal of the game. As we know it’s very difficult for younger players to earn ice time in the KHL, but there is is no denying that Yurov’s speed and effort as an F1 led to the goal. We also noted his a ability to play with pace as a puck carrier through the neutral zone and even after sitting for almost 2 hours Yurov stopped on pucks as well as started a net front scuffle.
U18 World Championships: Team Germany vs Team Russia, May 2, 2021: Yurov is a competitive, physical forward who had success in front of Germany’s net throughout this game. He registered a goal on four shots, all of which came from in tight to the crease. On his goal, Yurov established a presence in front, used his frame to win space, and then buried a rebound after a shot came from high in the zone. He is a physical player who is strong on his skates and difficult to move in puck battles. He is thick and has a solid base, allowing him to get low and maintain stability when defenders try to get physical with him. He did great work low in the offensive zone for Russia and was relentless around the puck, always giving second and third efforts. Overall, he is a competitive forward who does his best work low in the offensive zone and at the net front. Grade: A-
