D’Artagnan Joly – Looking back at the 2017 NHL Draft

D’Artagnan Joly QMJHL game report: Quebec Remparts VS Halifax Mooseheads (2/29/20)

D’Artagnan Joly (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, 2017 round 6 #171 overall by Calgary Flames, Unsigned, NHL Grade — Free Agent) Forward

Rough season for Joly as he’s had trouble finding a spot to flourish this year. Jumping around between leagues Joly seems to have found his groove with Halifax scoring at a point per game clip since joining them after Christmas break. A former draft pick of the Calgary Flames, Joly ignited the come back in this game bagging 3 nice assists. Two of his assists were backdoor feeds on 2 on 1s where his linemates had easy open nets to bury the puck. He set up the tying goal as well ripping one from the point where his teammate made a nice deflection. Joly is a big boy with a nice skillset and level of hockey knowledge which allows him to make nice plays. However, what’s held Joly back is his compete level. There’s time where he looks soft or uninterested to hound pucks or make an extra effort. Seeing the Flames decided not to sign him, I can see Joly attracting some teams or even playing at a solid Canadian University program. Game Score: B+ Draft Projection: Free Agent
