Game Evaluation: Victoriaville Tigers NHL Prospects (1/17/20)

Fabio Iacobo (4 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C) Goalie

Game Grade: A-, Iacobo, the 6’1″ netminder who is 12th among North American Goalies as ranked by NHL CSS, stopped 23 of 24 shots for the Tigres in regulation and Overtime before stopping 2 of 3 in the shootout in a losing effort. Of those 24 shots, over a third came on odd-man rushes against–including one save on a 3v0 from the blue line in. He was the team’s best penalty killer, especially in OT, and was in good control of his rebounds. The only goal surrendered came on a shorthanded breakaway. Iacobo was a steady presence and a big reason for the Tigres getting a point here, and has a good chance of being drafted in June.

Alexander Peresunko (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — Free Agent) Forward

Game Grade: B, The 19 year-old Ukranian right-shot forward was the lone goal scorer for the Tigres in this game. The winger is a shooter from the half-wall on the Victoriaville PP, with a heavy wrister. After applying good pressure on the forecheck, Peresunko got in scoring position, received a pass, and fired that wrist shot home to tie the game in the 3rd. Minus a bad penalty in Overtime, it was a good outing for #78.

Mikhail Abramov (4 Star Amatuer Rating, 2019 round 4 #115 overall Toronto Maple Leafs NHL Grade — C+) Forward

Game Grade: B+, Abramov is clearly the most dangerous forward for Victoriaville, with a good combination of quickness, skill, and offensive awareness. Piling up 6 shots on net, with most of them being quality chances, the 2019 4th Round Pick of the Leafs was productive here. He is good in possession, able to carry the puck through the neutral zone, and sees opportunities for scoring chances well. He snuck behind the defense for a chance on a break that was saved, and broke away for a 2v1 chance where he showed great patience and hands–dragging the puck around a sliding defender for a shot that was saved. The quick center was decent on draws, and contributed to the Victoriaville goal though he did not get a point.
