MHL: HC Krasnaya Armiya vs HC Omskye Yastreby, April 11, 2022: In the 3-2 loss to HC Krasnaya Trikozov earned 17:48 in TOI including 1:45 while on the power play. He finished with 1 power play secondary helper, but on the play he showed nice puck poise after pulling a bouncing puck off the wall. In the defensive zone he showed excellent awareness by constantly keeping his head on a swivel, playing with an active stick and as we’ve seen before Tikozov is willing to block shots. He led the game with 7 turnovers. With his combination of size and strength we would like to see him fight through incidental contact a bit more because he has a very nice skill set.
U18: Team Russia vs Team Czechia, October 10, 2021: Trikozov earned 14:23 in TOI during Russia’s 4-2 win including 1:56 while on the power play. We loved that the big righty earned matching roughing penalties during a net front scrum during the 3rd. In the tussle he showed strength, balance and a solid right cross. We realize that his game is not based on throwing punches, but nonetheless we still liked competitiveness. He tied for a game high 4 grade “A” scoring chances with 3 coming on one-timers from the high slot and the forth coming after he showed the strength to win a wall battle then using a powerful cross under to create enough space to roll into the high slot for a snap shot.
U18 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup: Team Russia vs Team Slovakia, August 6, 2021: In the 7-2 Team Russia win Trikozov earned 9:54 in TOI. He did not participate in the special team’s game. He went 1 for 1 on face-offs and one minor penalty for tripping while being caught going the wrong way in transition at the offensive blueline. In defensive zone coverage we liked how he kept an active stick in passing lanes deterring easy passes to the slot. We also liked his willingness to maintain shooting lanes and block shots. Mid-way through the 3rd he showed some wiggle as he corralled a bouncing puck in the neutral zone faking left and then darting right to go around the Slovakian defenseman for a breakaway. He did not score.
U18 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup: Team Russia vs Team Sweden, August 6, 2021: In the Team Russia win Trikozov earned 12:18 in TOI, including 1:08 while on the power play. He went 4 for 6 on face-offs and had 5 giveaways compared to 3 takeaways. He had a secondary assist on Russia’s 4th goal which was a direct result of his compete and energy as an F1. On the play he showed an understanding of angling, a powerful skating base and the strength needed to win 50/50 puck battles. Trikozov had 2 grade “A” scoring opportunities that generated rebounds. The first was a a quick release snap shot from the left face-off circle that seemed to get on the goalie before he expected it, while the other was a one-timer from the right face-off dot on hard pass from a teammate below the goal line. The one-timer was a heater about 12″ off the ice that generated a short side rebound.
