Melker Sigurd | MODO J20 | J20 Nationell | L | D | 6’1″ | 174 | Stockholm, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: C |
Game Grade: C
Comments: Sigurd is a sturdy two-way defenseman with a big frame and smooth skating. He played positionally sound defense and was able to angle opponents away from the net in transition. He moved the puck around well, but his decisions could be made quicker to help spark breakouts.
Lucas Pettersson | Modo | Sweden-2 | R | C | 5’11” | 161 | Ornskoldsvik, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: C+ |
Game Grade: B+
Comments: Pettersson was a very noticeable player in today’s game. He is a strong forward that powers up ice with speed and confidence. He was able to score 1 goal and 1 assist in this game, both off high effort plays. His best hockey came without the puck tonight. He forechecked extremely hard and did not give up on battles until the job was done. He was able to force multiple turnovers and was given lots of time on the penalty kill. He made smart, timely passes in the offensive zone to create chances and snapped the puck around quickly on the powerplay. His assist came early in the first to open scoring where he battled hard on the forecheck, stole a puck and quickly fired a pass back door for a one-time finish. This play was a great example of his high motor play and quick decision-making ability under pressure. His goal came early in the second period where he crashed the net hard on an odd man rush and buried a loose rebound in the crease. Pettersson played today’s game with a ton of energy and was able to generate lots of offensive opportunities from his effort.
Milton Gastrin | MODO J20 | J20 Nationell | L | C | 6’2″ | 179 | Ornskoldsvik, SWE | 2007 | 2024-2025: A |
Game Grade: B
Comments: 2007 born Gastrin had a very impressive game tonight. He has great size for his age, standing 6’2 180 lbs. He moves around the ice well and was trusted with a lot of meaningful ice time including minutes on both special team’s units. He brought a lot of energy in this game and showed a high compete level when battling for pucks along the boards. He forechecked and backchecked hard and was able to force multiple turnovers from his effort. With the puck on his stick, he showed off quick hands and the ability to make quick decisions to keep the puck in motion. His work in the defensive end was impressive as well. He was very attentive and played a positionally sound game to help close off lanes and make it difficult for opponents to create chances while he was on the ice. Gastrin has had an impressive draft -1 season and will likely be a highly touted prospect with first round potential in the 2025 class.
Jack Bodin | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | D | 6’3″ | 209 | Kumla, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: C+ |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: #9) Bodin played a very physical style and was a big asset in a game with a lot of chippy play. He finished his checks hard and stepped up in the neutral zone to shut down opponents with his body. He was not afraid to join scrums in front of the net and stood up for his teammates. He showed off a quick smooth skating style and some quick passes to spark breakouts up ice. He will need to improve his defensive positioning and play with the puck, but his physical presence was felt in this game.
Liam Danielsson | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | RW | 5’10” | 161 | Gavle, SWE | 2006 | 2022-2023: C+ |
Game Grade: C
Comments: Despite leading the entire Swedish J20 league this season, we were not very impressed with Danielsson’s game today. He had a lot of trouble creating offense and struggled to possess the puck. He seemed to rush a majority of his pass decisions whether pressured or not. He had a lot of trouble driving play and fumbled the puck often when going 1v1 in transition. We will be looking for a lot more out of Danielsson in our next viewing.
Alexander Zetterberg | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | C | 5’7″ | 158 | Sundsvall, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: B |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: Zetterberg is a speedy, undersized forward with skilled hands and decent playmaking ability. He circled the top of the zone with speed, searching for open lanes in an attempt to pass or shoot the puck towards the net and create chances. His skating is smooth, and he was able to pull off some agile tight turns to escape pressure. He played a solid game without the puck and was able to slip into soft areas to become a good passing target. Many of his passes were rushed and off tonight resulting in multiple turnovers. There were some moments where he pulled off skilled dekes but had trouble possessing the puck under pressure today. Zetterberg has had a fantastic draft year but struggled a bit tonight.
Luka Radivojevic | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | D | 5’10” | 154 | Edina, MN | 2007 | 2024-2025: A |
Game Grade: B
Comments: Despite being one of the youngest players in this game, Radivojevic had a very impressive performance. He is a skilled and speedy two-way defenseman with great agility. He showed off his quick feet by rushing the puck up ice with confidence and joining play deep into the offensive zone as a passing target. He is very patient with the puck and willing to hold onto possession until he finds the best option to move play up ice. He dances around forechecking opponents with agile turns and quick darts into space. He has skilled hands and is able to create separation through a couple of quick stick handles. He was given time on the second power play unit and moved the puck around well. Luka was also able to show off a heavy wrist shot which he let go from distance and hit put pucks on target multiple times this game. He also played with a bit of an edge. When he was challenged with a questionable hit in the neutral zone, he stood up for himself with a wrestling match, dropping the larger opponent to the ice. Radivojevic is a 2025 eligible defenseman who will likely be an early selection in his draft year.
Melvin Fernstrom | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | C | 6’1″ | 163 | Balasta, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: B |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: Fernstrom is a smooth skating forward who picked up a goal tonight. He moved the puck around well with quick one touch passes and was able to create a couple of opportunities through his decision making. His goal came on a 2v1 where he crashed the net and buried a feed in the crease. He had a bit of trouble handling the puck today, especially under pressure and often fumbled the puck or threw it away without a target when he ran out of space. He did good work on the penalty kill, forcing turnovers and even creating a breakaway chance. Decent performance from draft eligible Fernstrom.
Hugo Orrsten | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | L | C | 6’2″ | 190 | Boras, SWE | 2006 | Not yet rated |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: Orrsten is a solid two-way forward with good size and decent playmaking ability. He was able to pick up a primary assist to tie the game in the second. He rushed up ice 2v1 and made a well-timed decision to hit his teammate in the crease for a tap in finish. He is not the fastest player but moves around well and was able to slip into open ice to become a pass target. He showed decent effort on the forecheck and was given time on the penalty kill. Solid performance on both sides of the puck for Orrsten today.
