Jack Ziliotto

Jack ZiliottoMississauga ChargersOJHLRRW6’1″175RPI | 2023Waterdown, ON20052022-2023: C

Ziliotto is an above average sized right shot forward who was drafted at #201 in the 2021 OHL Priority Draft. Rather than going to the OHL he decided to play for the Mississauga Chargers in the OJHL. This decision has allowed him to slow play his development and it looks to be working quite well. At this point he is a bit of an inside edge skater, but he has a quick burst and uses his inside edges for an explosive start. He has the game awareness to be an effective 200′ center using a very quick stick to poke the puck from opponents who try to dangle him 1 on 1 and to shut down passing lanes. On the power play Ziliotto is positioned on the left flank and can one-time poor passes with authority. On a line rush he shows confidence by attacking the middle lane to draw opposing defenders to him before passing wide. After the pass he has the mindset to drive to the top of the crease. At this point we view Ziliotto as a potential late round selection who will continue on his own path for development by matriculating through the OJHL, to the NCAA and possibly an NHL contract after a few seasons at RPI.

OJHL: Mississauga vs Brantford, October 21, 2022: Good offensive player. Showed great puck skills both stickhandling and also controlling the puck and fending off players while still maintaining control of the puck. He has quick feet and a powerful stride. He is also able to maintain his speed going east and west allowing him to maximize time and space on zone entries. He was good at transporting the puck through the NZ and distributing the puck at the correct moments to his wingers. He showed little fear going into battles both for the puck ie one on one or with the puck driving the net. He showed a good power move leaning on his opposing D man to take the puck to the net with speed. His vision was above average and his Hockey IQ was above average on the evening. Grade: B+

OJHL: OJHL Showcase, December 1, 2021: A 2005 first year junior player who has excellent size for his age. Ziliotto used his frame well to create space for himself in the offensive zone. He got open and liked to shoot. This player looked confident for his age. In our viewing in Coburg he was snake bit and had a number of chances. Ziliotto had 2 goals in this game and had a number of quality chances. He drove to the net with purpose and drew a penalty off the net drive. Ziliotto is an Oshawa Generals draft pick and he looked as strong as anyone offensively in this game despite being 3-4 years younger than most players on the ice. He does need to focus on his skating. He gets around the ice ok but he needs to lengthen his stride to develop more power in the neutral zone. Grade: A

Ontario Bantams, April 14, 2020: Jack is a fairly big forward, very strong stride who can play with speed and hit holes with timing to be a threatening pass option. He has good stick skill and with good awareness he is an excellent playmaker. Grade A
