BCHL: Merritt Centennials vs Penticton Vees, November 26, 2021: In the 8-0 loss to Penticton Dewitt earned 19:02 in total ice time, including 0:49 while on the power play and 5:36 while shorthanded. Statistically he finished with 0 points, was -1, had 0 shots, had 3 shots blocked and had 3 giveaways versus 3 takeaways. This was a game to forget for most of the Centennials and Dewitt was right there with his teammates. Finishing -1 in an 8-0 drubbing is not a bad thing, but his minus came off of a shot from the offensive blueline that was blocked sending Penticton in on a 2v1. Dewitt having three shots blocked is something he will need to clean up to be considered for advancement to the Western League’s Regina Pats or higher.
BCHL: Merritt Centennials vs Trail Smoke Eaters, November 10, 2021: A big defenceman with solid skating ability and high hockey IQ. Dewitt was able to read the play as it was coming to him and step up to intercept cross ice passes before getting them back deep into the attacking zone. He has an active long stick that he uses to knock the puck off of forwards sticks to slow down the opposing forecheck. He is a very strong passer while on the power play and can fit the puck through any lane. With the puck, he uses his body well to protect before making a pass, or skating with the puck up the ice and getting it down low. On the penalty kill he uses a strong quick stride to get out to the forward with speed and a long stick to disrupt. Very strong and can man handle opponents in corners. And on one particular play snuck in off the blue line, caught a pass and sniped. Central Scouting has erred not identifying this defenseman as a prospect and we are confident you will see his name work his way onto the list. Grade: A

BCHL: Merritt Centennials vs Salmon Arm Silverbacks, October 9, 2021: In the 3-1 loss to Salmon Arm Dewitt earned a game high 27:47 in total ice time, including 8:00 while on the power play and 4:11 while shorthanded. Statistically he finished with zero points, a minus 1 plus / minus rating, 2 shots on net, 2 grade “A” scoring chances, 1 hit, 1 blocked shot and 10 giveaways versus 9 takeaways.
WHL: Regina Pats vs Brandon Wheat Kings, April 25, 2021: IN the 5-1 loss to the Wheat Kings Dewitt earned 7:44 in total ice time, including 0:18 while short handed. Statistically he finished with zero points, an even plus / minus rating, 0 sots and 1 giveaway versus 2 takeaways. Dewitt is a big 6’4″ lumbering left shot defender. At this point in his career he is still developing lower body strength and hip flexibility. We did like that he defended with his stick on the ice and that even though he currently isn’t the fleetest of foot, he did not cross over while defending. Dewitt is big kid to watch for in the long term.
