Mans Josbrant (C, L, 5’11”, 171, Lulea HF J20, 04/23/2008) Mans Josbrant is a 5’11’, 171-pound left-shot forward who plays with pace, competitiveness, and offensive intent, producing strong numbers at the U20 level (36 GP, 17G, 20A, 37PTS) while dominating at times against lower competition (23 points in 10 U18 games), but his projection to the NHL level remains limited due to physical constraints and inefficiencies in puck management. His game is consistent as he is an energetic, high-motor player who consistently drives play to the offensive zone, generates offense through volume (9 shot attempts, 5.1 shots on goal per game, 3.9 Grade ‘A’ chances), and competes to get inside positioning despite not having ideal size. He plays a direct, attack-oriented style, supported by competitiveness and a willingness to engage physically (0.68 hits per game), while also showing responsibility away from the puck with solid defensive zone awareness and tracking habits into the low slot. However, my concerns for a National League career are significant and consistent. His puck management is a major issue (6 giveaways vs. 3.4 takeaways per game). I feel his high-tempo approach leads to turnovers under pressure, and his puck battle success (46%) is below NHL projection standards for an undersized high compete player. His 81% pass completion is average and is consistent with my feeling that his offense primarily comes as a 1-on-1 player, and while he creates chances, his finishing remains inconsistent (10% SC%). Simply, he relies on speed and volume rather than creativity and efficiency. Overall, Josbrant’s pace, compete, and offensive puck skills give him a foundation, but without added strength, improved puck management, and more efficient decision-making to create 2-on-1s, he projects as a depth offensive player at the pro level rather than an NHL contributor; I project him to be physically ready to compete for an NHL job in 4-6 years and would not recommend drafting him earlier than the fifth round.
