Nick Savoie

Nick Savoie QMJHL game report: Quebec Remparts VS Halifax Mooseheads (2/29/20)

Nick Savoie (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C) Defense

Savoie is a tough defenseman who does it all for this team. He’s given a lot of responsibility on the back end and is counted to play big minutes. Savoie plays an honest game; chases pucks in his own end, finishes his checks and even carries the puck from time to time. His skating is decent allowing him to pivot well or transition on his feet but his mechanic is definitely not elite. Savoie intercepted a couple of good plays in his end making some nice reads once the opponent telegraphed where he was going. Not sure if he has a high ceiling for offense as his skill set is relatively simple and prides himself on hard nosed plays. At the next level I project Savoie to be a solid bottom pair defenseman who’s solidon the penalty kill and does the dirty work. Game score: B, Draft Projection 2020: 5 th -7th, NHL Comparison: Jake McCabe
