Patrik Volas

Volas is big left shot defender who is still learning how to use his body for leverage to his advantage. At this point he is still a bit stiff through the hips and his stride has an inefficient heal kick with a bit of a knock kneed skating posture. Offensively Volas stays within himself looking to make a solid first pass and we like how he moves his feet after the pass to be a secondary option on the breakout or zone entry. He has an absolute heater of a snapshot from the point. Defensively Volas plays with his chest up and uses a hidden poke check to his advantage. When defending the cycle he looks to separate his man from the puck as quickly as possible and he does not get caught looking down at the puck. Over the past two seasons Volas is averaging 1.6 body checks per game and this year he is winning 83% of his puck battles.
