Konsta Helenius | Jukurit | Liiga | R | C | 5’11” | 180 | Ylojarvi, FIN | 2006 | 2023-2024: A |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: This was not our favorite game from Helenius. For most of the game he seemed to play with low energy and was not his usual self on the forecheck. He applied some pressure behind the net and in the defensive end but most of his time was spent floating around the ice with no real intention. Konsta plays his best hockey when his pace is high. When his feet are moving and the puck is on his stick, he is able to blow past opponents with quick dekes and slip into space. He made a couple of good passing plays late in the third and in overtime where he worked his way into space with the puck and dropped a pass back to a teammate in the slot. One of those pass attempts resulted in a dangerous shot. For the most part however, his passing game was off tonight. He consistently attempted to force passes through defenders’ feet, into closed lanes, and towards areas of the ice with no open teammates. He has been a bit inconsistent this tournament and needs to play the game at a higher speed to cause more of an impact on both ends.
Emil Hemming | TPS | Liiga | R | RW | 6’1″ | 201 | Vaasa, FIN | 2006 | 2023-2024: A |
Game Grade: C
Comments: Hemming was virtually invisible today. He did not touch the puck very often and was unable to make anything out of his options when he did. One thing we noted multiple times today was the fact that he stopped moving his feet often and it hurt his team. With the puck on his stick he often stopped his stride and attempted to glide past opponents at times where he could have easily turned his man by pushing past at a higher speed. Defensively he took a horrible penalty where he stopped moving his feet and attempted to stop his man by only using his stick which was a very easy hooking call for the ref to make. Not the best performance from Emil today.
