Phillips Andover Takes Large School Title

Storrs, CT – Andover Academy defeated the Westminster Martlets at the University of Connecticut arena to win the NEPSAC Large School Title. Chase Anderson was excellent in the net for PAA and got the win.

Senior Zachary Skowronek snapped a puck home for a 5v3 power-play goal with 17.6 seconds left in the first period. Peyton Militello assisted. Andover went to the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

After Grayden Robertson-Palmer drew a tripping call, Andover had a 4v3 power play. 1:11 into the second, Danny Collins wired a wrister home from the top of the circles for another Andover power play goal. The assist went to Alex Small. Andover Academy controlled play the rest of the period, and the teams headed to the third, with Phillips Andover winning 2-0.

The third period was back and forth, and each team looked fatigued from playing the night before. Collins found a pick and scored a quick stick rebound with 9:44 left to make it 3-0 again with assists from Small and Kieran McIntosh. Westminster pulled their goalie and scored with the extra man to make it 3-1 with 1:15 left. Jake Pleau tipped an Erich Brueckmann shot home for the score. The Martlets pulled their goalie again, but Andover’s Nate Kreppner buried the empty net goal from Louis-Felix Beaulieu with 25.2 seconds left. That was the game as Andover won 4-1 to stand atop the Large School Tournament.
