Luc Morais # (D, L, 5’8″, 148, Moncton Flyers, 06/26/2007) – Morais is an above average skater and is quick to accelerate with forward to backwards acceleration and really confident in his play. Morais has strong gap control and competes hard in all areas. He joins the offense with his skating ability and shows great offensive instincts while taking control of the play in his own end with a good first pass. When he gets the puck he makes a pass or skates with it eliminating scoring chances for the opposition. He plays well on PK and PP with patience with the puck and has an average shot from the blueline. Grade: B+

Noah Collette # (D, L, 5’7″, 141, Moncton Flyers, 11/08/2007) – Collette is a smooth skating confident defenseman with great lateral movement. He joins the rush extremely well passes well and chases the puck up ice all the time. He joins the rush really well and is still the first person back to defend. His skating (lateral transitions fwd to bwd pivots edge work etc) is elite. He finds a way to either get the shot through in the offensive zone or distributes the puck through passing. His skating allows him to have a tight gap and he evades contact through his quickness. Very impressed with his overall game at the U18 level being a first year defenseman. Grade: A

Zachary Rushton # (F, R, 6’3″, 194, Fredericton Caps, 04/13/2007) – Rushton was overall confident with the puck and was really strong in the offensive zone and controlling the puck. Zack protects the puck extremely well using his size to keep the opposition away from the puck while creating offensive opportunities. He has a quick release and gets in to scoring areas in the offensive zone. He is a average skater using a long stride and displays a strong scoring touch around the net while smart passing decisions to his teammates. Zack needs to work on his quickness/skating to allow him to take away time and space in the defensive zone or to allow him to get to those areas in the offensive zone Grade: B+

Zachary Boudreau # (F, L, 6’1″, 163, Moncton Flyers, 06/02/2007) – Boudreau had a strong weekend and was a difference maker when on the ice. He drives the net on the rush makes good decisions with the puck and competes hard. When pushed he doesn’t back down and competes harder. He has an above average wrist shot and shows a strong scoring ability while using his teammates in the offensive zone. He continues to use his large body to protect the puck and creates scoring chances due to it. He is a fast skater with long strides and enjoys scoring or offensive chances. At times he gets ahead of the play and needs to support the puck especially in the defensive zone. Grade: A

Will Reynolds # (F, Fredericton Caps, 2007) – Reynolds is a 2007 born dman who looked comfortable in all situations in the game. Above average backwards skating and transitions well forward to backwards and pivots to control defenders with a strong active stick in the neutral zone forcing opposition to make decisions on the blueline. He consistently made smart decisions with the puck and played very consistent and safe; an example of this was he protected the puck in the neutral zone eluding the defender and then made an offensive rush with the puck and then dumped the puck in to the oppositions end. With his skating ability we would see him joining the offensive part of the game in a more consistent manner and joining the rush from the back end. Grade: B

Eddy Doyle # (D, L, Kensington Wild, 08/11/2007) – Doyle showed poise and a strong hockey IQ making many passes/breakouts without issues. He has average mobility and transitions well taking away the opponents options. He competes hard and follows the play up the ice very well while making a strong first pass to partner or forward. He gets the puck to the net from the blueline in the offensive zone with an average shot and plays hard on opponents in all areas of the ice. Doyle has a high level compete and plays tough in front of his own net pushing opponents out of scoring areas. Working on his quick start backwards and his quickness/skating will allow him to improve on gap control in the neutral zone. Grade: B

Noah is an adequate skater and makes smart decisions with the puck and without the puck. Smith uses his edges and transitions well from forward and backwards. He distributes the puck well and makes a good first pass in all three areas of the ice. Taking away time and space through quicker more aggressive acceleration will allow Noah to improve defensively as opponents will need to make quicker decisions with the puck Grade: C+

Jameson George # (D, R, 5’9″, 146, Saint John Vito’s, 01/01/2007) – George is a smooth skating defenseman with an above average hockey IQ. George is a strong skater and accelerates well keeping a good gap all the time; his pivots and transitions from forward to backwards is seamless. George has his head up and makes a good first pass supports his partner throughout all areas of the ice. He shows confidence with the puck and is there to support his teammates in the defensive zone and provides them with options in the offensive zone. He competes hard in all areas of the ice and does an above average job in front of his own net to clear rebounds allowing less scoring opportunities. Overall acceleration in the defensive zone taking away time and space will help his overall game in the defensive zone Grade: B

Aiden McCullough # (D, Fredericton Caps, 06/12/2007) – McCullough is a adequate skating defenseman that contributes with a above average first pass tape to tape. His edge work and backwards skating is strong as he moves around the ice. He defended well on the rush using angles and stick position forcing opposition to where he wanted them. He is deceptive when with the puck using head fakes and changing the blade of his stick forcing opposition to make decisions and giving him more room to skate. Appeared confident in the offensive zone making smart decisions with the puck with his head always being up looking at options. Would like to see Aiden get a little quick on the opposition in the defensive zone taking away time and space in a quicker manner. Grade: B

He supports the puck well in his own zone and offensive zone and creates offensive while he is on the ice. He is an above average passer and sees the ice well and is always in a good position to receive the puck. He works hard and knows where to go in the offensive zone to create opportunities. He has an above average quick release and uses his teammates well. Uses his body to protect the puck and wins puck battles. Would like to see Samuel improve his skating quickness (starting specifically from a stop) and edge work Grade: B
