Hunter is a very smooth and fluid-skating defenseman. His skating stride looks effortless as he does not have to work hard to create speed or space for himself. Before making breakout passes, Hunter gets his feet up ice, scanning for the best option. He QB’s the Calgary power play as a puck mover, wanting to find open teammates to attack once he has pulled a PK attacker out of position. Nothing seems to faze Hunter and he manages the highs and lows of the game very well, something most junior players are only beginning to learn about.

This tightly contested game came down to the final moments. With just ten seconds remaining, the Giants capitalized on a late power play, turning a costly Portland penalty into the game winning goal. In the end, the Giants star power took over when it mattered most, sealing the victory in dramatic fashion.

Goaltender Josh Ravensbergen was the difference in this game making several outstanding saves early on, 31 total, leading his visiting Prince George Cougars to a 4-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets. Dimitri Yakutsenak led the way with a goal and an assist for the Cougars with Carson Carels, Brock Souch and Jett Lajoie adding singles.

This was a tied game going into the third period and the breakdown that the Rebels gave up just fourteen seconds into the third ultimately decided the game. The momentum seemed to be stolen from the building because just two minutes later the Hitman scored again really putting score at a gasp too big for Red Deer to overcome. Did a good job at staying calm in pressure situations, couple times his team got hemmed in and when to freeze the puck and get a whistle and when to keep the puck moving.

Red deer played a hard, heavy game and was physical throughout, forcing lots of turnovers and winning more battles for most of the game. Red Deer had a hot start with 3 quick goals. Calgary started to claw back a little bit late in the game with a Dach goal, but Red Deer hung on and was the better team.

This game was closer than the score suggests. A tough stretch in the second period for the Warriors found themselves in a deficit that they just could not overcome. Otherwise they tied the first period and lost the third only by one due to a power play goal. The Hurricanes took advantage of their opportunities tonight with some players capitalizing on their quality chances.

Missura demonstrated a well-rounded skill set, with solid puck skills, physicality, and conservative transitional game. He showed decent gap control and positioning in defensive transition, although occasional passivity was noted. In the defensive zone, Missura displayed good instincts through stick lifts, boxouts, and risk mitigation.

This was a feisty affair, as both teams combined for 102 minutes in penalties which involved several skirmishes, with the Rockets coming out on top with a tight 2-1 victory over the Portland Winterhawks. Tomas Poletin got the Rockets on the board in the first on a power play, scoring on a hard wrister from the top of the circle. Defenceman Mazden Leslie scored a beauty, and game winner, in his 300 WHL game. Goaltender Harrison Boettiger was very good again in the net for the Rockets making 30 saves for the win.

The Everett Silvertips continued their winning ways away from home, beating the Kelowna Rockets 6-3, for their 13th straight win on the road. They broke open what was a tight game with three unanswered goals in the second period. Carter Bear led the way with two goals including a shorthanded breakaway, while Jaxsin Vaughan, Rylan Gould, Zackary Shantz, and Landon Dupont had singles. Anders Miller made 23 saves for the win.

The Penticton Vees scored three times in the first period, and didn’t look back, cruising to an 8-0 victory over the visiting Tri-City Americans. Ryden Evers and Doogan Pederson led the way with two goals each, while Ethan Weber, Matteo Danis, Tristan Petersen and Brady Birnie chipped in with three points apiece. Ethan McCallum was steady in the net in his first start with the Vees posting the shut out stopping 18 shots.

 Power plays brought goals; both teams’ goaltenders struggled a little bit. Power plays looked good, but Seattle controlled the pace. They had more pressure, more chances, and more grade A chances. Victoria could not stop the Seattle offence and power play.

The visiting Edmonton Oil Kings nine game winning streak ended on this night as the hometown Kelowna Rockets defeated them 5-2 (two empty net goals). This was a true goaltenders battle, as two highly regarded netminders went head to head. On this night, the Rocket’s Harrison Boettiger got the win over Parker Snell, but they were both excellent. Hayden Paupanekis, Kalder Varga and Shane Smith, with what proved to be the winner on the powerplay scored for the Rockets. Mazden Leslie and Hiroki Gojsic scored empty netters.
