NHL Scouting Reports

OHL:  Kingston (3) @ Guelph (6)

Guelph Storm vs. Kingston Frontenacs Despite two quick goals from the Frontenacs to open the game, it was all Guelph from there. The Storm responded with five straight tallies, taking control and skating to a commanding 6–3 victory. It was a quiet night for the special teams, as all nine goals came at even strength.

WHL:  Portland (3) @ Calgary (2)

he first period was fairly back and forth with the only real good scoring chances being goals, the second period was controlled by Calgary mostly, and the third period was controlled by Portland for the first 10 minutes. The game was a little choppy to start but fairly back and forth with both teams taking control for extended periods of time. Calgary made a late push after a Portland eventual game winning goal with 5 mins left in the game.

WHL:  Medicine Hat (4) @ Kelowna (3)

The hometown Kelowna Rockets jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but could not hold off the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers, who prevailed 4-3 in overtime. Carson Wetsch led the way for the Rockets with a goal and two assists. The Tigers had four different goal scorers with the winner going to Dayton Reschny in overtime. Carter Casey was very good in net for the Tigers, making 37 saves on 40 shots.

WHL:  Spokane (3) @ Edmonton (2)

This game was even all night and both teams generated some good looks on the power play and 5 on 5. The goaltenders made some big saves and kept the game tight. Edmonton had a late push to tie the game up, with an eventual shootout. Spokane stopped all 3 shootout attempts to seal the win.

QMJHL:  Val-d’Or (2) @ Moncton (7)

Very athletic between the pipes, Moves very well for his size, very good technique, plays a touch too deep at times, obviously wasn’t tested too much during the game vs Foreurs, but when he was he responded.

QMJHL:  Sherbrooke (7) @ Victoriaville (6)

This high scoring matchup saw half of its goals come in the opening period, but the team that started strong could not finish the job. Sherbrooke showed real resilience, shaking off a rough first period and tightening up defensively in front of their goaltender to take control and come away with the win.

FinU20:  Assat (2) @ Lahti (4)

Friday’s game was played in Lahti. The home team, Pelicans, was the better side for most of the match, even though Ässät won the first period. From the second period on, the home team took control of the game and eventually secured a well-deserved win.

WHL:  Medicine Hat (3) @ Penticton (1)

Jordan Switzer did his job to ensure a Tigers win tonight. He is an aggressive, athletic, and composed goaltender for the Medicine Hat Tigers. Jordan is very quick post-to-post, using an explosive push to get square to far-side shots. He soaked pucks up, not leaving rebound opportunities, and on longer shots he deflected pucks where he wanted. On two- or three-second shot opportunities, Jordan looked…

QMJHL:  Saint John (7) @ Moncton (5)

Zachary Morin impressed in the game with his exceptional ability to read and react in traffic. He showcased creativity and playmaking skills, often using his speed and agility to create opportunities for himself and teammates in open ice.

WHL:  Brandon (3) @ Regina (2)

This tightly contested game needed extra time to find a winner. The Wheat Kings were just a minute away from securing the regulation win before the Pats tied it late. In the end, it was Jordan Gavin who sealed the victory for Brandon with the game winning goal in the shootout.

Rising 2026 NHL Draft Prospects from USA-S17 Camp

Each summer, USA Hockey’s Under-17 National Development Camp in Buffalo offers a first real glimpse at America’s next NHL Draft class. This year’s group delivered a fast, skilled, and highly competitive showing that helped separate early risers from raw projects.

Neutral Zone scouts tracked every game and evaluated the nation’s top U17 skaters outside the NTDP, spotlighting players whose size, pace, and hockey IQ could translate at the next level. The following evaluations identify who’s trending upward and into the 2025–26 season.

OHL:  Ottawa (3) @ Guelph (4)

Ottawa traveled to Guelph and lost a tight 4-3 game. The game got off to a slow start with not many chances on either side but intensity picked as time went along with many chances in the 3rd period. Guelph weathered some storms in the 3rd period and took advantage of a late powerplay to secure the win. Here is a report of the best players in the game:

WHL:  Kamloops (4) @ Regina (3)

Regina controlled the majority of the pace in the first and second period and had more dangerous chances in both periods, however shot quantity was similar. Kamloops scored on their opportunities and their powerplay was good, along with their goaltending. the game was decided in overtime on a powerplay that Kamloops capitalized on.

WHL:  Saskatoon (2) @ Everett (3)

Everett controlled the pace of this game, they were dominant in the first period outshooting the blades 17-4. The score was close but the shots tell the story at 39-16 in favour of the Silvertips. Saskatoon had some opportunistic goals that kept the game close, however three first period goals stood as the win for Everett.

OHL:  Erie (2) @ Brampton (7)

Bowen made many big saves in this win. Despite the large score difference, he was challenged and faced quality shots and chances against. He faced 34 shots and only gave up 2 goals. He made an unbelievable save on a backdoor rebound shot that he was able to kick out his leg and deny. Bowen also faced some breakaway chances that he turned aside with confidence. QMJHL:  Newfoundland (4) @ Halifax (2)

It was a close game that remained up for grabs until the final minute, when the Regiment secured the win with an empty net goal. Penalty trouble proved costly for the Mooseheads, as extended time shorthanded shifted the momentum in the Regiment’s too often throughout the game.
