Verner Miettinen

Finnish left-shot center that stands 5’11’’ and 165 pounds. He played this past season for Kiekko-Espoo U20 in the Finnish U20 League. He also played six games at the U18s and scored a goal and had four penalty minutes. He is scheduled to play again for Kiekko-Espoo in the U20 League next year. He is a smooth skating forward that has a fluid stride and gets up to speed quickly. He has strong edges and changes direction quickly. He has slick hands and can make plays in tight. He has good touch and finds teammates quickly. Slippery down low below the dots and can slip by defenders in tight spaces. He makes touch-passes and small area passes efficiently and creates offensive chances out of the corners. He works hard in all three zones and plays hard on the backcheck. Responsible player that is always on the right side of the puck and helps his defenders. He will need to get stronger in order to play more towards the interior of the ice. At times he was knocked off the puck. Skilled and hard workers that plays a consistent game.
