Prep Poll #7

Things are getting more interesting. We have two new teams and some slight changes in our rankings this week. Remember, we follow trends and our eyes, not just formulas.

  1. Dexter – Rolling with the best “X” account in Prep Hockey.
  2. Berkshire – With wins over Salisbury, Avon and Canterbury in the last three, now the Bears have road contests at Kent and Brunswick. It’s a huge week ahead.
  3. St. Mark’s – A tough loss at Governor’s knocks the Lions doesn’t knock the Lions down as Govs has been hot, and a road loss like that should be OK long term as long as that doesn’t become a habit.
  4. Brunswick – Cushing on Wednesday and at Fred Gunn on Tuesday starts the difficult home stretch for the Bears.
  5. Deerfield – The Doors had a massive win over Andover on Wednesday, and it does not get easier this week with road games against a Loomis team that is playing excellent hockey and Avon Old Farms, who have much to prove. They could be higher here, but we will wait and see.
  6. KUA – They have a chance to win out and should be moving up our list in the next couple of weeks. A home game is a real possibility.
  7. Salisbury -Two wins against Upper Canada College do not improve their resume. This week, they have Taft and Loomis.
  8. Rivers – Seven wins in a row, including an enormous 6-3 victory over Belmont Hill at Belmont, vaults Rivers into Elite 8 contention. They have St. George’s and Roxbury Latin this week.
  9. Avon Old Farms -Avon lost two straight to Berkshire and Westminster. The Winged Beavers face Fred Gunn on Tuesday and Hotchkiss on Friday on the road. Then, they play Deerfield on Saturday with a potential snowstorm on Thursday. It’s a season-changing week for Avon.
  10. Nobles – The Bulldogs have beaten Belmont Hill and Berkshire. Last week, they defeated Thayer and Tabor. They have Governor’s and Milton this week. Their resume is solid, but they must string together some wins down the stretch.

Last Out: Belmont Hill, Holderness, Thayer, Cushing
