Marion, MA – Belmont Hill travels south of Boston to Tabor Academy for a 5 pm Wednesday night matchup against Tabor. Vinnie D’Urso in net for Tabor, and Ethan Bauer for Belmont Hill.
Good productive start for Belmont Hill off the opening face off, creating some good offensive zone time. Shortly after and less than two minutes into the game, Colvin Callahan finds a loose puck behind the net and banks one off Bauer for the game’s first goal. Both teams trade good chances, sharing solid offensive zone time. The first power play of the game would go in favor of Tabor, looking to extend their lead. Good feet displayed by Connor Wright buys himself time to slide a pass over to Owen Carter, but a great blocker save by Bauer. Chippy game with constant scrums after the whistle, players like Marcelo Martinelli showing aggression and compete early on in the game. Tabor gets awarded a great chance with a 2-on-1. Callahan slides it over to Ares Miller, but it just rolls off his stick. Tabor gets another Grade A chance from Ethan Travis, shows off quick hands in tight, but Bauer makes another great save.
Belmont Hill takes to the power play with around ten minutes left in the second. Evan Jones finds Patrick Woods’ back door for the equalizer with nine seconds left on the man-up. Physical period with good speed, tied 1-1 heading into an exciting third.
Early in the third, Belmont Hill breaks the tie with a goal from Jackson Burns, assisted by Matt Carolan. Pace stayed high, and Tabor played good defense, but an electric goal by Jones helped make this game get out of reach for the Seawolves. He was able to walk into the slot and slide a shot along the ice five-hole to get the score to 3-1. Liam Boyle seals the deal with an empty netter, and Belmont Hill will gain a great win against a Tabor team with a great record and inside our top 5 in the latest poll.
