Maisey Bojarski (★★★★) – Commits to University of Vermont ’24
The excellent skating ability of the Appleton, WI native will be on display for the University of Vermont. She is only one of two ‘24 grads committed in the month of December and the only one committed to an NCAA DI school. The forward from NAHA Red team also saw ice time at the USA Hockey National Player Development Camp in the 15/16’s division.
NZ Scouts say: “Bojarski showcased the nice ability to be able to make body adjustments on the rush to receive and take a shot all in one motion. A number of times she was seen taking crossbody passes and releasing shots all in one motion at speed.”
Tyra Edl (★★★3/4) – Commits to Brock University ’23
USports and Brock University are adding a quality 3.75 Star to their rankings. Edl, the Alberta native is having an excellent season so far, clocking-in at just over a point per game. The 6 foot tall forward will be looking to do the same next season in Ontario for the Badgers.
NZ Scouts say: “…a strong power forward with slick puck skills. She manages the puck well in small spaces and her long reach gives her good opportunities to find and bury rebounds. She is capable of rink length rushes but usually finds open teammates to break into the offensive zone together.”
Sadie Keller (★★★3/4) – Commits to Manitoba University ’23
Keller comes from the Swift Current program and has been lighting it up for them for the past 3 seasons. She will head over one Providence next season and don the Bison Brown and Gold. The 3.75 star forward will look to continue her goal scoring ways in the USports for Manitoba University.
NZ Scouts say: “…a true sniper…She has a great accurate shot but she also gets it done in the defensive zone.”
Ella Huntley (★★★1/2) – Commits to Cornell University ’23
It has been initially understood that Huntley was committed to Cornell University. But we are hearing now that she has made the jump from the ECAC to the HEA and will join Boston University next season. The New York native has previously spent time with the Buffalo Bisons as well as the Selects Hockey Academy. But this season she took her game north and across the border to hone her talents with the Etobicoke Dolphins.
NZ Scouts say: “A smart penalty killer, she uses speed and an active stick to cause turnovers and block shots in the shooting lanes. Her passes are accurate and crisp to hit a breaking winger cross-ice. Defensively, she does a good job taking the body and getting inside position on the backcheck.”
Lauren Larson (★★★1/2) – Commits to Sacred Heart University ’23
Sacred Heart University adds themselves a 3.5 Star goaltender in Larson. The Minnesota High School product has been lights out for Rogers High and will sport the Red and White for the Pioneers next season and help backstop them to a winning record in the NWEHA.
NZ Scouts say: “She has great reactions and never took her eye off the play. She was confident, calm, and collected. She really did a nice job tracking the puck and staying with it. She is good down low and moving side to side effectively. She is agile and has a nice glove hand.”
Rylee Strohm (★★★) – Commits to University of New Brunswick ’23
Another USports program adds another strong forward from the Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins with Strohm. The 5’9” forward will trade in her Blue and White for The University of New Brunswick’s Red and White next season to become a part of the Seawolves squad.
NZ Scouts say: “Her successful neutral zone battles result in zone entries for chances. Hard net drives, battles below the redline, and strong net-front battles create space for crisp passes, hard snaps, and goalmouth opportunities.”
Jayden Fox (★★★) – Commits to Toronto Metropolitan University ’23
Toronto Metropolitan University adds a 3 Star defender to their roster next season. The Durham Lighting and Ontario native defender will stay close to home and don the Blue and Gold next season in Toronto.
NZ Scouts say: “Fox makes a crisp first pass to exit the zone. She drops in as an option and has the speed to get back and defend. The good-sized defender has a strong active tick in one-on-ones. ”
Naomi Tink – Commits to St. Michael’s College ’23
Coming from the BK Selects program, the speedy Michigander has committed to St. Michael’s College next season. Tink will trade in her Black and White jerseys for Purple and Gold as she will added speed to the Purple Knight’s squad.
NZ Scouts say: “The right handed forward is a full steam ahead type player. Her quick first step allows her to get there to get possession, win foot races, or pressure puck carriers and force turnovers. She is all go, all the time with no shifts off. ”
Leigh Burkitt – Commits to Ontario Tech ’23
Ontario Tech will add a member of the Ottawa Jr. Senators next season. The hard working lefty, Ontario native will stay close to home and continue to grind against the tough USports competition.
NZ Scouts say: “Burkitt is a hardworking center who can win faceoffs to gain possession for her team. She is great in her d-zone supporting her teammates and dishing the puck off to her wingers. She is a hard forechecker and backchecks hard most of the time.”
