Adam Sykora | HK Nitra | Slovakia | L | RW | 5’10” | 172 | Piestany, SVK | 2004 | 2021-2022: C |
Ian Moran’s Thoughts: Sykora is a worker. He is high compete and effort. You can’t miss him during a shift because he can be the F1 on the forecheck and the F1 in the defensive zone just a few seconds later. He plays with real emotion and energy. He has good skills, but I feel he projects as an energy forward who can impact games with his speed and attention to detail. Nobody will question his heart, but there will be questions about can his size stand up to what he needs to do to be a National Leaguer. The kid impacts games though and that what really matters.
U18: Team Slovakia at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, August 12. 2021: We liked Sykora’s game because he was counted on and was effective in all situations. As an F1 his speed caused poor decisions and bad outlet passes all tournament. He finished checks in all three zones and looked to establish body contact both with and without the puck. He plays the game with emotion, was involved in post whistle scrums and used his acceleration to draw penalties. At this point we feel Sykora may be a long shot to be drafted, but the fact that his coaches used him in all key situations shows you what type of player he is.
