
Middletown, RI – The #9 St. George’s Dragons hosted a top-five team for the second time in four days as they welcomed #3 Dexter for a 4:30 puck drop. Fourteen Dexter players picked up a point, and Colin Davis made 26 stops in a dominating 9-1 win for Dexter.
Rian Chudzinsky scored in his second shift on a breakaway shot into the top of the net to make it 1-0 four minutes into the game. Noah Survilas sent him away while Myles Brosnan picked up the other assist. With 4:38 left, big Cameron Smith chipped a puck deep, and Sean Leetch knocked the defenseman off the puck, went to the cage, and scored to make it 2-0 Dexter. It was 2-0 after one period.
Dexter looked stronger to start the second. The Dragons had few answers for the surge. Junior Joe Marchi popped home a Nick D’Olympio pass to make it 3-0 with 8:48 left. Ian Burke tipped home a Matt Hines shot, and it was 4-0 Dexter with 3:49 left in the second. 6’5″ Jack Fitzpatrick snapped a quick stick goal shot into the net from Nate Porter and Leetch to make it 5-0. That is how the second period ended in Rhode Island.
With 9:09 left, Seamus Condon scored from Cameron Smith and D’Olympio. Forty seconds later, it was Hines from Owen Mchale. Forty-five seconds after that, the first line went back to work. Chudzinsky scored from Survilas and Leetch. Three goals in less than two minutes, and Dexter was cruising up 8-0. Ryan Magaletta added a rebound goal for St. George’s to make it 8-1. Chudzinsky responded with 2:53 left for the hat trick from Tayvin Frongello and Survilas. That is how it ended with the 9-1 win for Dexter.
Dexter should move up from #3 on the NZ Prep Poll with their sixth straight. They head to Pomfret next. The Dragons are at Milton on Friday.
