Salisbury at Taft

Watertown, CT – The Salisbury Sarum Knights traveled to Watertown to take on the Taft Rhinos in a much-anticipated early-season tilt on Wednesday.

Taft was put on the power play early in the first period, where they applied some
pressure. However, it was Salisbury who struck first on the power play after they killed
off their penalty. Zach Gill fired home a one-timer from the point to give Salisbury a 1-0
lead. With 3:30 left in the first period, Salisbury extended their lead when Angus Proctor
found the back of the net on a great feed off the rush from Tyler Roccas.
With just under a minute to go in the first period, Taft sprung themselves on a
breakaway, where the Knights’ goalie and Nova Scotia native, Jordan Rittenberg, made an outstanding save to keep Taft off the board just before going into the locker room.

Salisbury showed no sign of slowing down as just 33 seconds into the second frame,
late 2009 Devin Cokinos found the back of the net to give Salisbury a 3-0 lead.
Taft was finally able to get one back 3:52 into the period off a goal from Harvard commit, Jason Rothstein. Salisbury responded and struck twice more by the end of the second frame with goals from Landon Klein and Luke Walkauskas.

A third period provided no more scoring as Salisbury took this one 5-1. Rittenberg picked up the win for the Sarum Knights, while Hunter Dryden took the loss in
net for the Rhinos.
