Governors at #3 St. Marks

Southborough, MA – Strong test for St. Mark’s, facing a team with up and down swings of success. Aaron Alves-Thomas gets the net for the Lions, and Timmy Heaslip for Governors.

Even start by both teams in this one, giving the slight edge to St. Mark’s. They’re the first team on the board with around 9 minutes left in the first, Blake Grislis makes it 1-0. A few moments later, its Governors’ turn to return the favor, getting free was Robbie Daley on the breakaway, who made a slick move one-on-one to tie things up. Late in the first, Will Manchuso gives the lead back to the Lions on the power play, and that’s how things would finish out after 1.

Jack Taylor for St. Marks starts the offensive surge with 4 minutes left in the second period, scoring on a pass from Caiden Pellegrino. Later in the period, a strong net drive by Ted Drury frees up a loose rebound in front, allowing Evan Nee to tap it in for an easy goal to put the score at 4-1.

Governors struggled for the remainder of the game to sustain offensive pressure, mostly due to strong puck-moving all around from the Lions. Late in the game, a 5-minute major was assessed to Governors, and St. Mark’s capitalizes with a snipe from the point by Niko Tzouganatos to extend the lead to 5-1. That would eventually turn into the final score and another dominant win for the Lions.
